The Federal Housing act of 1934 was established to revive the housing industry during and after the great depression. It helped to repair, rebuild, and insure older homes. The FHA sought to stimulate homeownership by providing mortgage insurance and regulating interest rates. The agency contributed to a large increase of the number of homeowners across a diverse income-scale. This act also helped contribute to having some special housing initiatives for Veterans in the post WWII era. One challenge this act faced was the misuse of the home mortgage insurance in 1970 or so.
link to learn more about the FHA act: https://portal.hud.gov/hudportal/HUD?src=/program_offices/housing/fhahistory

The Fair Labors Standard Act of 1938 was put in place to protect working citizens and provide a set minimum wages, set maximum working hours, manage overtime pay, and keep track of youth employment standards. The bill also said that any hours worked over 40 in one workweek would require pay rate of time and a half. It was this union-endorsed bill that gave Americans the weekend. One thing this bill does is protect children from child labor.
Link to learn more about this act: http://www.newsmax.com/US/fair-labor-standards-act-minimum-wage/2015/06/02/id/648271/

Social Security Act (SSA)

Before the 1930s, support for the elderly was a matter of local, state and family rather than a Federal concern (except for veterans’ pensions). The Social Security Act of 1935 provided elderly people who could not work and were living in poverty after the great depression with pensions. At first, payments into Social Security were considered "contributions," not taxes. The program appeared to be self-funded--as workers contributed, they received credits toward retirement benefits. However, too many people needed help, so the program was expanded to include the families and survivors of retired and disabled workers, the unemployed, and federal workers.
Wand to learn more? http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/fdr-signs-social-security-act

President Roosevelt signed the Tennessee Valley Authority Act on May 18, 1933, creating the TVA as a Federal corporation. The new agency was asked to tackle important problems facing the valley, such as flooding, providing electricity to homes and businesses, and replanting forests. Other TVA responsibilities written in the act included improving travel on the Tennessee River and helping develop the region’s business and farming. The establishment of the TVA marked the first time that an agency was directed to address the total resource development needs of a major region.
