         <title>Oligarchy </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The rich took control of the Athens and they controlled  economy and they also they served as generals and judges. The common people had very little to say in the government and a group of rebels tried to take over but failed and as a result of of that failed attempted a man named Draco came into power and created a new set of laws they  that were very harsh. The citizens of Athens did not like it at all.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Athenian tyrants were good leaders and the people supported them and a man by the name of peisistratus brought peace to Athens but when he died his son took over as a tyrant and the arstocrats were very unhappy because there power was gone and so because of that they convinsed a rival city to attack Athens and the son lost power and the aristacrats were back in power.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A leader named by Cleisthenes gained power in Athens  because he didnt want the aristacrats to run the government anymore because they had a bad influence by calling of the people Cleisthenes was able to overthrow the arsticrats and because of that he established a new government and under Cleisthenes leadership Atens developed the fist democracy.</div>]]></description>

He wanted the people to contribute in the government or voting so if he didnt have 6,000 or more people he would send slaves with red dye on the rope so with the people who had red rope on there clothing they would haft to attend the gathering and they would vote for laws and the city officals.</div>]]></description>

EX: the could serve in juries and decide court cases and a lot of people would attend in the court houses and then a new leader came in and his name was Pericles and he belived particapating in government was just as important as defending your city and if the people did particapate in government then he would start to pay the people .</div>]]></description>
