Germany was divided into two. Eastern Germany was under the control of the Soviet Union and Western Germany was under the United States, Great Britain, and France. Berlin was divided into Pro-capitalist and pro-socialist. Joseph Stalin wanted to kick Western powers out of all the entries to make Berlin communist. Truman started the Berlin Airlift to help send food and fuel which was supplied by air through the city.

The attention was primarily focused on the members of the communist party from America because they believe they might be spies. People started accusing others of being a spy for the Soviet Union. They Started calling people Un-American. In 1050 McCarthy declared that he has a list of State officials who belong to the communist party. This ruined many people's careers.
