The voting in 1979 was rigged because Leonid Brezhnev was given 99.99% of the votes and the other political campaigns received only 00.01% of the votes. The voting had been rigged by the government and the Leader of the Soviet Communist Party to maintain the appearance of democracy. The government also send political workers to encourage voting because after thirty years of the communist regime the people began having problems.

Nicholas II's Death

The race was not just Nuclear and military build up but they also took part in the Olympics (They boycotted each other's countries in both 1980 and 1984). They also raced with the Achievements of Space. In both the Olympics and Space Russia beat the United States, because they launched the first aircraft to enter space.
