The country has a population of approximately 2.8 million people.&nbsp;</div><div>In a study provided by the World Bank (2014), Jamaicans have an average life expectancy of about 73 years. The average male life expectancy is 73.3 while the average female life expectancy is 78.1.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

Non-communicable diseases are among the top causes of death in Jamaica. Strokes are the number one cause of death in the island with approximately 16% deaths in 2012.&nbsp; Strokes may occur due a blocked artery or may be caused by a bursting blood vessel.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Jamaica’s health care is mainly publicly funded. Wealthier Jamaicans are able to afford private insurance. About 12% of the population has private insurance. The government is having a hard time providing efficient health services while containing costs. &nbsp;A high debt burden has forced the country to reduce spending on health services. Jamaica has limited funds to borrow as well as loans and debts that need to be repaid.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The ministry of health is the primary authority regarding management of health services for Jamaica. The ministry of health teams up with other agencies to distribute services across the island. . The Ministry of health is trying to strengthen the ability to provide universal health care access to its citizens. They have enacted specific programs to reach that goal. There are four primary health care centers of excellence that have been recently established in the country to provide access for a broader range of services regarding first level care.&nbsp;</div><div>There are approximately 24 hospitals and 300 health centers on the tiny island. There are different levels/types of hospitals.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
