I've said to people before that I'm going to do my very best to make it, and I'm not going to give up. And that's true. But I might not make it. And if I don't make it, the Marathon of Hope better continue.

One thing hurts me. I keep hearing 'Terry Fox.' I'm not doing the run to become rich or famous... To me, being famous is not the idea of the run. The only important part is that cancer can be beaten.

Twenty-six miles is now my daily minimum.

I do have a belief in God, and no matter what happens to me, things are gonna be OK. It doesn't matter whether the tumours have spread or not, because either way, I'm gonna turn out a winner.

Even though I'm not running anymore, we still have to try to find a cure for cancer. Other people should go ahead and try to do their own thing now.

Maybe now, instead of being afraid and saying, 'Look how hard Terry tried, and he still got cancer,' instead people will say, 'Look at the effort he put in, and he died of cancer. We're really going to have to try hard in order to beat it - harder than we ever have before.'

Terry Fox took part in contributing to creating a better society for everybody. Terry impacted millions of lives all around Canada, and possibly the world. By helping raise awareness for a good cause, he helped improve the lives of cancer patients. Terry Fox took into consideration how he would be improving our community as a whole if he did this run across Canada. He is a good global citizen as he helped our community, changed lives, and he fought for what was right and what needed to be done.

This cancer had caused him to lose his right leg which had to be amputated. After the surgery, Terry used an artificial leg in place of the leg that had to be surgically removed. During this time in his life where he was undergoing chemotherapy, he witnessed other patients who also had cancer suffer which was painful to watch. Terry Fox gathered a sense of responsibility that something had to be done about this. With that, he started the Marathon of Hope

 Not only did he make a difference based on the money he gathered, but also by being a good role model for those in a similar situation as his. Terry Fox certainly made a difference by giving people hope that not everything is lost.

The first obstacle was the weather. Whether it was raining, snowing, or sunshine, Terry Fox continued to run in these weather conditions. The rain and snow was most difficult for him as it was harder to get around in those conditions. You can only imagine how many times the weather must have been bad as he ran for 143 days.

The second obstacle was his right leg. Ever since it was amputated, he had to run with a prostate leg which is much harder than running with two normal legs. His prostate leg would give him pain at some times as it was not comfortable to wear. It was hard for Terry to run with it, yet he still made it very far.

The last obstacle was his cancer. There was nothing Terry could do to completely prevent the cancer from taking over. Every day that he ran, he ran to raise awareness for cancer patients and to get donations. Unfortunately, Terry couldn't get across Canada as the cancer had taken over in his lungs, resulting in his death. This was one obstacle that Terry couldn’t pass.
