Name:
Class:
Student Id:
Book: The Night Train at Deoli
Author: Ruskin Bond
Rating: *****
Question: Write a personal opinion about the story/ a character or an incident from the story that has affected you. It can be a positive or a negative experience. Not more than 150 words.
Synopsis: This story is about a boy who met a stranger, a woman, in a platform while waiting to take a train to school. Despite the parents warning him about talking to strangers, he still spoke to the woman and even followed her to the coffee shop. The writer claimed that the boy had a pleasant feeling around the stranger and didn't feel threatened at all. Eventually both of them developed a mutual feeling of a mother and son with each other.
Personal Review: This story gave me a realization that strangers can be friends. An impact gained from an encounter with a stranger can have a lasting impact in our actions and emotions. The boy in this story made me worried as he started talking to strangers. However, as the writer develops his story, the stranger, who was the woman, appeared to be someone who was pleasant. As the story was reaching an end the biggest question in my mind was, who was the woman? What was she doing in the platform and why she approached the boy? She seemed to be having a soft spot for young boys.

"The Coral Tree" is a famous short-story by Ruskin Bond. This story started with narrator's "borings"life. In this story, narrator met a young girl who was about to pluck flowers from the coral. When he started conversing with her, he could observe the ambition of the young girl who wanted to go round the world. He was very frustrated on his grandfather's death and he wanted to sell his house in England. So he was about to set on a journey to England. The fall of the branch symbolises the death of his grandfather. On conversing with the girl, the narrator felt relaxed and he was indirectly helped by that young girl to overcome and let down the sadness of his grandfather's death and to accept the reality of life. This story tells us that we should cherish people around us and shouldn't feel sad on things that already happened. Sometimes we'll need a person or a thing to help you overcome but try not to take it too long.

This Story makes me feel very wonderful and interesting. Gabby is a person who loves to excavate new things. This story made me learn, there is a lot to gain from being brave to excavate new things and dare to try. In the story the most interesting part is Gabby want to make a hot air balloon into space, but he doesn't have enough tools. So he embarked on a journey to find materials to make a hot air balloon. On his way to find materials, Gabby encountered many friends, such as squirrel, owl, rabbit... Every friend is willing to help him. In the end, he successfully landed on the moon with hot air balloon and brought a souvenir back to earth to share with his friends. Although this is impossible in reality, Gabby found a lot of interesting things while looking for materials

It brought me the feeling that the other person is like It left me with the feeling that the other person was like a visitor and would only remain in my mind to imagine. I loved the part of the story where the man picks the branch of the coral tree for the girl. Although it was very damaging to the tree, it It succeeds in making the man a 'second best friend' as the girl calls him, and unless both parties know each other's contact details, the chances of seeing each other again are slim to none. Even so, they said they hoped to see each other again.

In this story there have two blind person but they unaware of each other's blindness when they are talking. At the end of the story, the blind man felt extra jolt when he knew that the girl was blind because The blind man was not only able to fool the young girl but himself as well. This story that I learn is everyone have their luck and talent so instead of hiding our short comings, we must appreciate that what we have and not complain that what we have not.

The main character and the little girl connected through the girl's wish to get some flowers from the coral tree. By helping the girl, the main character learns a little about the girl and her desire. She also has a wish to travel around the world. The little girl feels innocent to me, even though I can sense that something is bothering this girl. I wonder who this little girl is? What I find interesting is that a girl's best friend cook is different from most kids, so a little girl may not only be isolated from others, but she may be lonely. I also feel that the main character contact with the girl lessens his burden or sense of loss, even though the girl may not realize it. It's like life always needs someone. Although that person may not necessarily realize how beneficial they are.

I think Leela loves Arun too, or else she wouldn’t keep letting Arun get married to someone else by helping him to find a girl to marry. Leela was a pitiful and foolish girl because she knew her husband was disloyal but still continued this marriage. Despite the fact that saying so was wrong, the death of her husband has given Leela a chance to be with Arun. Fortunately, Arun plucks up the courage to confess. It became my favourite part of the story when Arun said, "Why don’t you marry me now?" What a powerful and responsible sentence! Luckily, Arun and Leela, the two boys, get married in the end. But it was a strange soundless weeping. When the boy looked up, Mr Oliver's facial expression changed giving way to horror. The boy did not have a face, it was just a round smooth ball. It had no eyes ears nose or mouth. The torch fell from the teachers hand and he ran as fast as he could. Blindly through the trees shouting for help. He stumbled after the watchman. He told the watchman everything he saw. When the watch man lighting his face with the light in his hand, Mr Oliver saw the watchman had no eyes nose or mouth same as the kid!

After reading this story, I think we have to enjoy the world and see it with our eyes and hearts, like an open window. There are so many things in this world that we have not yet explored, mysterious and wonderful. In this world, you will meet different people and things that bring you a lot of joy. Don't close yourself all day, at least open the window to see the world outside the window. Such as ‘It is like a cinema,’ said Koki ‘The window is the screen, the world is the picture.’ Meeting many friends in this world allows you to bring joy and do more meaningful things. I hope all human beings in this world can make their life meaningful. （123 words)

Thieves are always giving people the concept of someone who is bad and hateful. However, I can feel that the thief in this story still has kindness in his heart. Although Arun is not rich at all, the thief is lucky to meet such a kind person like Arun. This is because Arun did not mind that the thief ask for money which was more than the price of day’s supplies, instead, he teaches the thief to cook and write. I feel so sad when the thief steals Arun's money but I feel happy because at last the thief did not jump on the carriage to take the money and run away. In the end I was so touched because Arun gave some of his money to the thief knowing the thief had stolen the money before. I even suspect Arun actually pretends to sleep that night.

(147 words)

After reading the whole story, I don't think that Inspector Lal did anything wrong. He let Kusum go because Kusum was killed to protect himself. I kept worrying about Kapur, the saint, who wasn't caught while reading this book, but in the end, I found out that there was no way for him to escape the police, and the girl was back in her life, I don't worry. While Inspector Lal feels he shouldn't be an inspector, it's probably because he feels he is too sympathetic. But I think if every policeman were like him, wouldn't many guilty people be caught, and all innocent people would not be wronged.
(109 words)

When Sunil, who was the nephew of Chachi, took out a knife from a small hole in the wall of the unused barsati, I was stunned and highly strung about his impulsive behaviour. This action warned me not to have an impulsive character like him. It is because an impulsive character can lead us to do something that is violence and dangerous. When I realised that Sunil did not kill his aunt, I was relieved and thrilled. The interesting part of this story is how Madhu stopped Sunil from killing his aunt. She was smart to tell Sunil what consequences he would pay if he killed his aunt. In addition, Madhu let Sunil vent out his anger through stabbing the drawing of Chachi on a paper, burning the drawing and throwing it to the drain.

This story doesn't have many plot ups and downs. But it is this story that warms me and makes me feel positive and be satisfied after reading this story. When reading the scenery described of Miss Mackenzie's garden by the author, I feel that I must have such a beautiful garden when I grow up. The part I like the most is that when Miss Mackenzie encouraged Anil by giving him a very precious book to him when Anil is going to start a journey in Delhi. The encouragement and affirmation that Miss Mackenzie gave the boy not have only warmed him, it also warmed me as a reader. I learned that I want to be the kind of person in life that encourages others. Seemingly inconspicuous encouragement can actually bring a lot of power. Rakesh lives with his grandfather in a small town of Mussoorie, and there he goes to school every day. For the farming purpose, his parents live in the deeper part of the mountains which is not connected with facilities like school or hospitals. After reading this story, the emotions conveyed in it made a deep impression on me.
A feeling of being washed over by something warm came with it, of being transported back in time. The nature and climate of Mussoorie is scintillating, which the author has so beautifully portrayed. Kindness towards his grandfather and the cherry tree manifests through the character of Rakesh.Goodness to godliness is what the author symbolically compares in the story of The Cherry Tree—a short, beautiful story.

Gossiping are what we do usually every day, but we might forgot about the real situations and add some words that isn't true when we are spreading out the rumor we really heard, and that can cause many fake news or bad results to the main person who involved in the incident.
