South Africa consisted of three major rivers, the Orange, Molopo, and Limpopo rivers, which gave the people many advantages. It also consisted of low deserts, high mountains, and coastal plains. The mountains would provide many natural resources for everyone, such as gold, chromium, ferrochrome, vanadium, vermiculite, and platinum-group metals. However, the lack of water wasn't able to meet the needs of its people, therefore being a lack of agriculture.

The river probably served as easier transportation because of the amount of trading, as well as fresh drinking water. Kush/Nubia’s geographic location impacted trade because they were composed of lots of gold. However, many successful trade hubs were at Nubia and they were targeted and often attacked. Many kings attempted to take over these trade centers. Trades took place at Nubia because they were in the middle of the desert, and didn’t have much access to natural resources and food.

In ancient times, Greece was not a united country. It was a collection of separate lands where Greek-speaking people lived. By 3000 BC, the Minoans lived on the large Greek island of Crete. The geography of Greece gave them obstacles because there were lots of mountains that split up parts of the civilization, which turned into different political powers. Instead of one government, the Greeks developed many small independent ones.

For the incas who lived on the coast of the Pacific Ocean, it was very difficult to grow food there because of the climate. For the people who lived in the mountains, it was very unpredictable because of the amount of earthquakes. For those who lived in the rainforest, the agriculture was very vague because of the humidity. The Incas overcame their geography by using stones to support the terraces of the cutaway land on slopes of hills. They used broken stones as drainage, and the stones radiated the heat in the bottom since there is no air flow.
