I picked the topic of dolphins because I think they are very fascinating animals. When I found the first nonfiction book, I felt it aligned well with the Kindergarden standard of Interdependent Relationships in Ecosystems. In both books, you can talk about the dolphin's relationships within the environments that they inhabit. This includes the adaptations they have to make and how they survive. In the fiction book, the main character Daisy has to adapt to her surroundings in a different way, which also can spark great conversation within the classroom.
