Using the incentive to compare students with one another or to bring them down defeats the purpose of the incentive. The incentive is there for students who can excel to reach the goal, which is every student! Using it as a positive can be beneficial especially to students who are having a hard time finding motivation.

To help maintain good behavior from all students, clear expectations should be kept in the classroom and often repeated. Teachers need to hold students to these expectations. A lack of consistency in disciplining misbehavior breaks trust between teacher and student, therefore increasing the risk for misbehavior.
