         <description><![CDATA[<div>Ian Whittington<br><br>What is the relationship between CO2 concentration and the atmospheric temperature?<br>~When the carbon dioxide concentration goes up, temperature goes up. When the carbon dioxide concentration goes down, temperature goes down. The CO2 concentration directly effects the atmospheric temperature due to the CO2 molecules absorbing infrared radiation.<br><br>What kind of things could  decrease in earth's temperature?<br>~Without greenhouse gases, the Earth would lose heat too quickly and all life would perish. Water vapor and CO2 absorb heat in the lower atmosphere and reflect it back to the Earth. So if we were to deduce the CO2 concentration in our atmosphere, we would start to see the temperature drop. Another way is to reduce water waste!<br><br>Currently, about 10% of Earth is covered with ice year-round. If this ice melts, what could happen to Earth's temperature?</div><div>~If the 10% of earths surface that is covered by ice were to melt, we would see a rise in temperature. The ice wouldnt be reflecting the suns energy, which means that earths surface would absorb the energy and would rise the temperature of the atmosphere.<br><br>9:52<br><br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Connor Stokes<br><br>Where is the Northern Hemisphere in relation to the sun during the summer?<br>During the summer, the Northern Hemisphere is directed away from the sun<br><br>Based on the past trends of the change in the Earth's temperature, do you think that the Earth's temperature will rise or fall in the future? Why?<br>Based on the past rends of the change in the Earth's temperature, I believe that the Earth's temperature will continue to increase for multiple reasons. One of these reasons is that human emissions of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere continues to increase every day. These massive amounts of greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide, are a major contributing factor to the rise of the Earth's temperature in the past, and I do not see humans decreasing the amount of carbon dioxide we put into the atmosphere, which is why I believe the Earth's temperature will continue to rise in the future.<br><br>Why are the ice caps important to the regulation of the Earth's temperature?<br>The amount of ice covering the Earth's surface can affect the Earth's temperature in a major way. When the radiation from the Sun encounters an area of ice or snow, the energy is reflected off of the surface and leaves the atmosphere. This radiation from the sun gives off heat, and when it reflects off of the ice, it leaves the Earth's atmosphere. This leads to a decrease in the Earth's temperature, making the Earth colder.<br><br>What solutions would you provide for the drastic increase in the Earth's temperature?<br>There are many things that we as the human race could change to regulate the temperature of the Earth. One solution could be the use of electric cars. The cars that we drive today run on gas. The gases that are produced from these cars are extremely harmful to the environment, and produce too much carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. However, electric cars run on electricity. The use of electricity instead of gas would contribute to the regulation of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, which would lead to the regulation of the temperature of the Earth.<br><br></div>]]></description>

Conduction is where heat is transferred through a solid. An example is cooking eggs. The heat is transferred from the pan to the egg making this a conduction. Convection is the process of heat transferred by a fluid such as air or water when the heated fluid is caused to move away from the source of heat carrying the heat with it. An example is a lava lamp. As the liquid is heated it rises and falls as it cools. Radiation is heat transferred without physical contact.          <description><![CDATA[<div>How can scientists study temperature levels from before people had thermometers?  They use ice cores to study the changes in temperature and CO2 levels.<br><br>How do cloulds affect the Earth's temperature?  High thin clouds reflect infrared energy back into the atmospher causing a warming effect.  Low clouds reflect solar radiation and cause a cooling effect.<br><br>Give an example of positive feedback as it relates to climate change.  When the temperature increases, so does the level of water vapor.  This causes the temperature to increase even more.<br>Anna Batson</div>]]></description>
