Fun facts: Sir Charles Chaplin took 5 1/2 months to shoot the film, a huge amount of time for a film production in 1921.

Major characteristics of the home during this time included geometric furniture, bold colors, and statement mirrors. Wall colors were generally light neutrals and greys with accessories and accents in vibrant colors like Chinese Red and Blue Peacock. Furniture was more modern and sleeker in design, but incorporated opulent, stylish, and aesthetically driven elements. The 1920s (the time period of when the art deco took place) certainly saw the building of stately mansions and Gatsby-esque estates, but the average new home built that decade ranged from just 742 to 1,223 square feet. But today most houses average to about 2,537 square feet, which is twice the size of the houses back then. Bedrooms during the 1920s/ Art deco were all about color and pattern. Colors tended to be soothing, often very pretty and feminine, with lots of florals and pastels, especially in the first half of the decade.
