Because teachers are underpaid, under-appreciated, and overworked, there is a teacher shortage. To fix this, many states have decided to lower the requirements to teach rather than step up and provide better for educators. This means many teachers do not have a college degree, which means curriculum becomes more script-like (and less individualized for kids' learning styles.) Like we had them but it felt like they were not really being used practically in the classroom.
