How do I use this strength already?

Professionally, I use this when building rapports with my students. I always go out of my way to find something unique about my students as a means of letting them know I'm a caring adult. One of the best parts about being a teacher is getting to know so many people and helping them cultivate their strengths - sometimes when they don't even recognise their own strengths!
Personally, I'm very much into the arts and appreciating the work artists put into their creations. I love listening to music (I'm a huge Carly Rae Jepsen fan!) and hearing the nuance in the production. I'll listen to a podcast about how the song was constructed, hearing each individual piece, then listen to the song over and over for each individual piece within the final product. I'm also into various other hobbies, like photography and knitting, where I love to pause and learn new techniques to build new images or even create my own patterns!

In what areas of my life do I use this strength?

I mostly use this strength in my personal and professional life. In my professional life, it's critical when working to understand my students. It helps me build a strengths-based approach when I'm in a classroom. I firmly believe all of my students have something, a talent or a skill, that is an asset to them. I work to understand this asset and help them understand their assets in their learning journey to help them build confidence.
In my personal life, it's almost become a mindfulness practice for me. In turbulent times like today, few things are more relaxing than sitting down and analysing the work that goes into creating a piece of music, a piece of knitted work, or (to help me work on my relationship with flying!) making an airplane fly.

In what other areas of my life could I use it more?

I should use this more often in my personal life. Too often I'm drawn into jumping to conclusions because of the era of populism and my own biases. In the age of clickbait news and renewed attacks on women's, 2SLGBTQ+, and racialized communities' rights, instead of immediately reacting, I should pause and reflect further - instead of just reacting to the headline, what is the article truly saying? How can I take this less personally? Is there anything I can do to help fix this issue? This may sound contradictory, however, the act of appreciating beauty and excellence requires one to pause and reflect. This will, ideally, also result in less of an us vs. them mentality. Furthering my previous point, there isn't much to gain pitting myself against people with different views - there is much more to be gained working to understand those with different views and helping to dispel notions of hate to create a more positive community.

I would like to continue reading fiction (I've been reading too many textbooks!) and I would like to take more time to analyse beyond the literal, or even surface figurative, meaning and implications of text. At least once a week I will take about 20 minutes to sit and read a fiction book - currently I'm reading A Gentleman in Moscow. During the reading, I'll look for one passage that stands out and ask myself any related questions such as "What does this dialogue tell me about the themes of the book? What does this reveal about the character? Does this highlight anything about the plot, themes, setting, or cultural context?" I'll start this as soon as I'm done my courses this term!

What will happen if I achieve my goals?

If I achieve my goals I believe two things will happen: I will have a greater appreciation for reading, and I will have develop a stronger sense of analysis. By taking the time to dive deeper in the implications of fiction writing, I will have develop a more nuanced understanding of how the text influences the broader narrative. This will lead me to have a deeper appreciation for fiction because I can truly see the impact the writing has in relation to the novel. By asking myself these reflective questions, I will develop my analytical thinking. This is a isolated way for me to analyse deeper implications of words and their meanings, meaning I can practice analysis on my own. This will result in the development of analytical thinking outside of work, which will help me broaden my horizons.
