These became helpful when I began to draw and the definitions helped me with my tones and shading as I was able to draw the ¼, ½ & ¾ tones with both the vine charcoal and the compressed charcoal. Another thing that I had to review was how to properly make core shadows and contrast those shadows with the highlights as they would help me define the different parts of the face. First I had to find tempera paints which was a little difficult to do, then I had to decide on what to paint. Eventually I decided to paint a snowy hill with tress like you sgugested but I used a different base iamge for it. Painting the sky was not easy because the tempera paints were not only difficult to blend but they dried quickly which meant I mostly Dry Brushed to make it blend. Then I had to add the cliff and tree, the cliff was actually the easiest part as well as the trunk and branches, then I used dabbing to add the leaves and after repainting some of the branches so you could still see them I used dabbing again to put snow on the tree. Lastly I decided to add a small bush to the side as well as add another layer of darker paint next to the cliff before finishing. The metaphor I am trying to show is how society is affected negatively by social media, the tears the person is crying are ‘downvotes’ from a social media app called “Reddit” and are to show that someone does not like something. While it used to only be in the minds of the readers of 1984, it has become a very real threat as many different people can hack into your devices and spy on you through your camera without you knowing. Drawing this was difficult, not the actual thing but because of the ideas I had to choose from, the one I eventually decided on used Emphasis on the eye in the phone as well as Value to highlight the eye watching you.
