  • The peddler leaves the cottage alongside the crofter.

2. Morning

  • The peddler returns after 30 minutes of him leaving; breaks the window and run away with thirty kronors that were in the sack.

3. Afternoon- Late Evening

  • Lost; wandering through the forest like he is stuck in a rattrap due to his own greed.

  • Hears a sound coming from a distance.

4. Night

  • Comes across the Ramsjo Iron Mills and gets permission to spend the night there.

  • After sometime encounters the Iron master who mistakes him for a friend and wants to take him to his home; he politely refuses in fear of getting caught.

    • The ironmaster sent his daughter with persuasive powers to convince the man who he thought to be his acquaintance to come home.

    • The man was convinced after the guarantee that he would allowed to leave freely.

  • Morning

    • Took a shower and got shaved

    • His true identity was revealed; this enraged the ironmaster who thought he had been duped.

    • Daughter convinced the ironmaster to allow him to relax on Christmas Eve.

  • Afternoon- Night

    • The peddler ate and slept

    • The ironmaster and his daughter visited the Church for mas.

    • They come to know that the peddler is a thief who stole thirty kronnors.

    • While returning the daughter is worried.

  • Morning

    • When they returned they found a present; a rattrap with a letter inside

    • The letter stated that the peddler was thankful for the respect the daughter gave him and informed that he was a changed man.
