I enjoy spending my time with family and friends and just taking things a day at a time. I love to be able to plan and make things sufficient in saying that making sure everything is done on time and completed successfully. Being able to take time to vacation and relax is always an enjoyable time I enjoy spending my summers at the beach or on a boat. Some experiences I have had with teaching is doing children's church, babysitting, and as well as being assigned to tutoring during my time of getting my bachelors degree here at UNCW.

I was born and raised in Sampson County in the great city of Salemburg NC. Where my parents grew up alongside of growing up my family farmed and we had poultry houses (chicken houses). We had a produce stand and farmed much more. I have an older sibling who is five years older than me who is flight attendant with Delta Airlines. Growing up I enjoyed what I still enjoy now and that is hanging out with family and friends and being involved in church. I grew up learning how to work on the farm, riding four-wheelers, horses, and just living the good country life style with my friends and family by myside. As well as taking many beach and mountain adventures.

Growing up I have always loved kids and had a compassion to lead others. Holding them accountable but also expecting that same feedback. When I was in first grade I knew I wanted to be a teacher because my teacher at the time inspired me she taught me it was not about the number in the class or how well the test scores was overall. It was about that individual you took the time with to work one on one and you developed that relationship to last a lifetime. She would sit with us on the carpet and work one on one with us to make sure we understood each part. At church I was always involved in working with the kids department and anything I went to volunteer in with they put me working with the kids. While finishing up my bachelors degree I went and subbed at this school and then ended up applying for the Teacher Assistant job during the summer.

I graduated high school in 2021 and finished my Associates of Art degree that following July of 2022. When I finished there I did UNCW all online as an extension student to complete my Bachelor of Arts degree in May of 2025. I actually started off in teaching but changed to Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Science and Technology which is the degree I have now. I am continuing my education still as an extension student working full time as a teacher assistant in the elementary school I grew up in and continuing my education to become a teacher while being involved in the Masters program here at UNCW.

Why a Teacher?

I am choosing to become a teacher to make a difference. To be that safe place for that child and to make sure each child is heard and understood making sure they have that developed relationship and are always ready for the next step in life. I remember my elementary school teachers, even my middle and high school teachers. They are all so special to me and have helped me get to where I am today because I can remember the certain things in life they taught me even if it was the simplest lesson.
