The graph illustrates the proportion of urban residients in four Asian countries between 1970 and 2020, along with projection up to 2040.

Overall, it is quite evident that the percentage of people living in cities increased in all four countries over the given period and is expected to continue rising in the future. Malaysia consistently had the highest proportion throughout the period, while Indonesia started with the lowest figure but is expected to rise sharply and overtake others by 2040.

The diagram reveals that Malaysia maintained the highest proportion of urban residents throughout the period. In 1970, about half of its population lived in cities, and this figure rose steadily to more than 70% by 2020. The trend is expected to continue, though at a slower pace, reaching nearly 80% in 2040. By contrast, Indonesia started with the lowest percentage, at only around 12%. Urbanization there was relatively slow until 2000, after which it accelerated sharply. By 2020, just under half of Indonesians lived in urban areas, and the figure is forecast to climb to 60% by 2040, overtaking Thailand.

As the diagram suggests, Thailand and the Philippines both showed steady but more moderate growth. In 1970, about 30% of Filipinos lived in cities, compared with just 15% in Thailand. By 2020, the figures had risen to around 50% and slightly below that level, respectively. Looking ahead, the Philippines is projected to continue its upward trend, reaching about 60% by 2040. Thailand, on the other hand, is expected to level off after 2020 at just under 50%, remaining the least urbanized country apart from Indonesia in the early years.

ln summary, all four countries are becoming increasingly urbanized. Malaysia will remain the clear leader, while Indonesia, despite starting at the lowest point, is set to rise rapidly. In contrast, the Philippines and Thailand will see steadier growth, with Thailand expected to lag slightly behind the others by 2040.

It is often argued that science has many purposes, but arguably its most crucial aim is to enhance the quality of human life. I mostly agree that improving people’s lives should be the primary goal of science, although there are other valuable aims worth considering.

On the one hand, there are variety reasons to justify the argument that science should be used to improve human life. One major reason why science should focus on improving people’s lives is that it directly contributes to better health and longer life expectancy. Health is always the area that people pay the most attention and care about, so developing and perfecting science is especially necessary for each of us. For example, genetic engineering is a practical example of today's scientific advancement. Thanks to genetic engineering, doctors can transplant lactic acid cells to treat diabetes and many other diseases. In addition, scientific innovations make daily life more comfortable and efficient. Technology products have gradually become a common tool and are gradually becoming indispensable to human life. The proof is that advanced achievements such as smartphones, laptops, tablets, TVs, etc. are constantly improving and making people rush to purchase them every time a new product is launched.

On the other hand, science is not limited to serving immediate human needs. One of its other valuable purposes is playing a crucial role in protecting the environment. Nowadays, many hydrometeorological experts have applied scientific achievements to predict the weather and storms in our country. This contributes to preventing sudden obstacles from nature and the risk of human damage, especially at a time when many storms are increasingly landing in the East Sea like now.

In conclusion, I believe that improving people’s lives should indeed be the central mission of science. At the same time, the impact of science on other aspects such as the environment is equally important.

Some university students want to learn about other subjects in addition to their main subjects. Others believe it is more important to give all their time and attention to studying for a qualification.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Some undergraduates assume that it is better for them to learn other extra subjects besides their major ones. Others believe that giving priority to their foremost subjects is more essential for them to have good qualification. While I understand why some students agree with this viewpoint, I still believe that unversity students should pay attention to their priority subjects for following reasons.
On the one hand, undetgraduates who just focus on learning their main subjects without taking courses outside of their major, will have appreciated career with good degree. This offers university students more time to specialize their major subjects. Besides taking main courses at university, they also have deadline such as presentations, teamwork tasks and homeworks. Their time budget is limit, so if they want to have high marks, they have to focus on finishing them perfectly by researching carefully their professional horizon. Attending to others unrelated subjects causes neglect, students cannot accomplish well their academic subjects and this leads to bad results or even fail to graduate. As far as I am concerned, there are a vast range of annual graduates cannot apply for academic jobs, because of their bad degree. This trend has different reasons, and one of them is neglecting professional subjects in order to participate other extra courses.
On the other hand, university students will have a wide range of optimistic benefits when attending extra courses besides their key subjects. They can broaden their horizon in other different fields, this offers them more experiences and trials which are extremely beneficial for their future lives and careers when their job opportunities will be broaden not only in their main line of work, but also careers in other fields. Furthermore, undergraduates can learn more about crucial soft skills such as: communication, time-management, teamwork skills, etc. These skills will support them in their future tasks and difficult situations.
In conclusion, both of two sides have different advantages and drawbacks. If they have enough time and oppotunities, participating in extra course is an ideal way for many benefits. However, if their time budget is limit, it is better to focus on major subjects to ensure the quality of degree, which is incredibly significant for their future job opportunities.
