Born to Hyperion and Theia was the god of the Sun. He was a guardian of oaths and a god of sight. He lived in a golden palace in Okeanos. Every day at dawn, he rode his chariot drawn by 4 winged steeds from Ethiopia in the east to the west until he reached Hesperides. He then went into a golden cup and was transported back to the Ethiopia. Had many children such as Phaeton. Helios let Phaeton ride his chariot once but ended when it was struck down by Zeus due to him not being able to control it. Also appeared in the Myth of Herecles where he rewarded him a golden cup after being threatened to be shot at."HELIOS (Helius) was the Titan god of the sun, a guardian of oaths, and the god of sight."(Greek Titan god of the sun)

The god represents the big ball in the sky, the Sun. It was believed long ago that instead of the Earth revolving around the Sun, it was the Sun revolving around the Earth. Because of this belief, the Greeks believed that Helios was just a god on a chariot, the chariot being the sun, and he rides every morning across the sky from the east to west.
