I think about how our desks faced each other with the monitors directly in our line of vision, and how we’d lean to the side to catch each other’s eye.

As for feedback… since it has been 7 years since we hired you for the programme associate role, and it was your first paid job, I’m not sure how useful the feedback will be now. You’ve come a long way; you’re a lot more experienced in facilitating and designing trainings, managing events and overall I think you have a sense of what kind of work you want to do.

When we started working together, my goal was to make sure you both had options to use the skills and interests that you already had (especially based on your Masters dissertation research) as well as opportunities to learn new skills and try out things you hadn’t done before to see if they might be a good fit. I’m glad and grateful to see you in the feminist movement spaces as recently as last December, as my worry with your kindness and willing to overwork in the first years, was that you might get burnt out and leave the sector (as many have!).

I hope you continue blossoming and finding new ways to replenish yourself!

It's boring to think about and I readily admit that I have avoided slipping into it, but you have the potential to be a good manager of big teams, not just the short-term workshops and trainings. You know that kind of direction career-wise means a lot of boring admin and less fun, creative things (but that doesn't mean you won't have chances to do those things), but your empathy, thoughtfulness and interest in pedagogy will make you a good manager in an organisation that does this kind of work, whether a more academically oriented organisation or still in the non-profit, movement space -- if it is an organisation that does something like the ERI Mekong School, you'd be a perfect fit for the head of school / lead trainer / program manager kind of role. You would know what the content needs to be, what the students/participants need and who you want to seek out to be part of such an initiative. At the same time, you've been through enough of the big events with hundreds of participants with me to know the logistical work and considerations for persons with disabilities, language justice etc. to know the other planning aspect.

But you can do anything, any job you really want to do! So go do the next thing that makes sense for you :)

Best to watch without the woowoo music! ;-) But I get this sense of perpetual, calm transformation that I think is a deep strenght to be draw on. And I think it offers a non-linear career progression and the capacity to traverse multiple movements. Obviously, with the climate catastrophe upon us I'd love to see your brain-heart-self combo in that space. I love what Sanam says and reckon that's very cool. I don't know if creativity and leadership is your vibe but exploring that more has bubbled up.

You have so much to offer! I think being bolder and confident to push for your ideas---- propose out-of-the-box brilliant things coming out of that amazing mind. Challenge our assumptions, and show more of yourself, and your ideas vs saying yes all the time =) Also, be more transparent about your own feedback to others (e.g. if something is not working)
