- Der Held oder die Heldin des Märchens ist zunächst schwach und muss im Verlauf der Geschichte eine oder mehrere Prüfungen bestehen.  
- Märchen haben immer ein glückliches Ende: Das Böse wird immer bestraft und das Gute gewinnt. 
- Magische Zahlen spielen in Märchen eine wichtige Rolle. Auch Gold und die Farbe Gold sind in Märchen wichtig.
