Currently, my brother has taken up gardening and knowing what the plants need and how it grows is necessary to ensure that you have a garden that will flourish. In order to do this, you have to know what each plant needs, and every part of the plant. Throughout the growing process of each plant he usually has to trim or pull leaves to ensure he has maximum growth. In order for him to do this he has to know what parts of the plants to tend to some he doesn't kill the plant or disrupt the growing process.

As in the case with my brother's garden, he has a go to notebook. With in the notebook, he takes notes on his dos and don'ts for maintaining his garden. Inside he has each seed and what each seed needs to obtain maximum growth. You have to know the soil and the best time of year to plant each vegetable or fruit, so it grows to maturity. So, each day he is out there turning soil, watering, covering, pruning whatever he needs to do for his garden to thrive. Nature does do the brunt of the work, but he has to make sure everything is there for nature to do what it does best. Where he choice his garden for the best light and what not all plays a vital role in the plants process.

With the garden these plant/seeds that are used need all of these things to grow, so we have to make sure these things water, light, soil is available in order to ensure mass production. The environment itself is a vital part of having success with your garden. So, each plant needs the water, light availability, some plants require more of a dry atmosphere all of this information is needed and plays a vital role on whether the plant/seed will adapt and flourish.

I used to live in Venice, LA and we use to go out in the marsh and fish. I remember there were these giant rat looking creatures that would eat on the marsh, and they would hunt them because they were destroying the marsh land. They were called nutria, because of this nutria they were putting the marsh in danger because it affected the soil and native plants that the other animals in the marsh depended on for survival.

Plant domestication was important and still is today because it gave us the agriculture way of life. Made it easier for people to maintain a certain way of life and also helped to establish permanent civilizations. Just like today my brother is growing corn in his back yard and he does this to grow produce in a cleaner manner and for our family to share and eat.

Plant domestication has changed so much over the years and now we enter the world where it can be completely run without the use of human hands. We have come to a point with science to where plants, vegetables can be grown without all the hard work that humankind has put in since the 17th century. I often talk about my brother and his garden that produces quite nicely but would not produce what it does without his around the clock help.

The future of food and plants is something that is talked about often, because the reality is if we don't do something now there will be issues in the not-too-distant future. The idea is to come together globally to take what we already have for farming and putting the plants, food, and animals all together and maximize what we have. Using technology, the plants, water levels and soil will be easier for the farmer to monitor. We will take what we already have today and bring it together and make it better for the future, but it will take work and the world as a whole in order to make these dreams a reality.
