In her article she conducts research on students who get help from their counselors and how effective their meeting is and how effective their school's guidance counselor is.

Although this is an reliable statement, not all visits with the guidance counselors are a good experience for some students.

I personally had a negative experience with my guidance counselor in high school which didn't help because they left me lost about my future with college. Senior year, it was my advisory teacher who taught me about financial aid, scholarships, and what classes to take.
