Muhammad refused to be drafted into the war because of his stance. That year when he declined going into the war he was not able to box and that really hurt him and his family because that is how they made money and him and his wife have their first baby on the way. He declared himself a conscientious objector which mean he refuses to work in the armed forces. He said this "I ain't got no quarrel with them Viet Cong" in this he is saying that he doesn't have a reason to be put into war because he doesn't have a problem with them.

Muhammad was more than a boxer. He traveled the world helping other countries in need and getting them the things they don't have.Every year he would help with a Make-a-Wish foundation and the special Olympics. Even though he was Muslim that wouldn't stop him from meeting leaders of other faiths so that he could get a better understanding of the worlds religions.

It all started when he was not able to sit at a table in a burger restaurant in Louisville Kentucky which is his hometown. 4 Years later after he lost in the heavyweight championship he joined radical black civil rights movement, the Nation of Islam (NOI). He joined NOI because of his close friendship with Malcolm X who was leading the black civil rights activist. He later left the group after hearing about Malcolm X arguing with the leader which was Elijah Mohammad at the time. After he left tbe group he then joined Sunni Islam and never was in the same group as Malcolm X again.

As who we know as Muhammad Ali once changed his name due to people being racist towards him. He spoke after he changed his name and said this "Cassius Clay is a slave name. I didn't choose it, and I didn't want it," he said. "I am Muhammad Ali, a free name, it means beloved of God and I insist people use it when speaking to me and of me." Before his fight his opponent called him by his birth name and Muhammad screamed in his face and said "Whats my name Uncle Tom".

At first Muhammad disagreed with Martin Luther King when King said he wasn't blacks and whites to live together. Muhammad did not like that idea at all and he said this about it "I’m not going to get killed trying to force myself on people who don’t want me. Integration is wrong. White people don’t want it, the Muslims don’t want it". In Muhammad's eyes he feels like if this happens people will start getting killed and not fix the problems that need to be solved between the two races.

At first these two were not on the same page and did not like each other at all until Mr.King spoke out against the Vietnam war Muhammad heard what king said and agreed with him because as you remember Muhammad refused to be entered into the draft for the war. Muhammad sent a telegram to King when he was in jail talking about how they both opposed the Vietnam war and Muhammad said this “My conscience won't let me go shoot my brother, or some darker people some poor hungry people in the mud for big powerful America”.

After the 9/11 attacks Ali spoke about Islamophobia and terrorism. As we know Ali was Muslim and he was in shock of what his people/religion had done to our country. He spoke in New York about 6 days after and said this, "I am angry that the world sees a certain group of Islam followers who caused this destruction, but they are not real Muslims, They are racist fanatics who call themselves Muslims, permitting this murder of thousands." His speech really caught many peoples attentions because as it was hard for all of the United States it was also hard for him to see what his people part of his religion have done
