Classroom Arrangement Design

I plan to have students moving throughout the classroom during the day. It is important for me to have a very open floor plan in order to make accommodations for any students with disabilities that might be in my class. I also included the carpet to create a "family" time where we would sit in a circle and have any discussions, etc. There is a reading and writing area because those areas foster creative thinking and imagination which are key to the students creating successful work. Most math will be done at the student desks which I made sure to create cluster seating to promote collaboration during the day. The blue rug with the teddy bear is the "safe space" where a student may go if they are feeling overwhelmed or need some time to reflect or think about their actions.

Operation Respect is an anti-bullying program designed for elementary and middle school students that is centered around teaching students that being different is ok and can even be a good thing. The program includes resources for teachers to use to teach students about respect and how some students have emotions that are different from others so they might feel an emotion differently or more intense than another student.

All resources are music, video, and interactive based which is a great way to connect with students and have the information stick in their brains.
