In this account, I could perceive that the girl has a lot of solidarity with other people. Why? Even though he had socially transitioned and lived as a male for two years, he describes the moment he took the bandages off as the most affirming moment of his life: “everybody else around me saw me the way that I saw myself.”

Transgender people struggle with this issue of their bodies not matching their gender and, just as this week’s reading said, “the way others see us or not (recognized or misrecognized) can hinder our self-esteem.” (Taylor, 1994) They struggle for recognition by those around them and, unfortunately, by the law.

Jordan’s interactions with others changed through the whole process of first, socially transitioning, then medically transitioning, and finally, getting top surgery. These interactions allowed him to negotiate his identity with others until they recognized him as the way he sees himself.

In this post, we can see how this poster within a feminist movement is not only saying that women are harassed, but also recognizing how a woman who is part of the LGBTTTIQ+ community and likes women is putting herself in the instead of those men who also like women but she does not harass them, referring to the fact that it does not have to do with whether you are a man or a woman, it is simply not okay to harass a person, it is a lack of respect and dignity towards her or the. The importance of social recognition lies in the recognition of women's rights, movements for LGBTTTIQ+ rights, etc., many struggles present in our lives today. On the other hand, Charles Taylor theory basis states that the key to attain social reconition is acknowledging and recognizing the presence of similarities between groups through constant dialogue and interaction.

Our lack of self-love, recognition of our responsibilities, and recognition of our abilities and traits, are the ultimate factors that deny us the capability of identifying our goals and desire. In her theory, to recognize and redistribute, one has to have matters of justice and self-realization, where individuals (especially minorities) are not denied rights and they are included in all social interactions. She says that this mis-recognition is derived from "an institutionalized relation of subordination". In the tweet shown, the authors talks about how having a black woman in the Supreme Court of the United States is important, because it gives identity and a voice to black women in the nation; which, taking into account the history of the US, is a social group that has been denied rights, both due to race and gender. However, the tweet's author acknowledges that this recognition is important, but the redistribution is even more so, if the social injustices are to be eradicated because it is not enough. The author stresses the importance of actually fighting for issues of intersectionality, that are usually not taking into account in matter of policies.
