Emma Thomas
Author: Lisa Schroeder

Exposition:
Characters: Ava, Jackson, Cali, lyric, Zoe, Jessa
In the exposition you find out that Jackson was Ava's boyfriend and he died and the guilt is killing Ava. Ava wishes she hasn't said those three words that ended her boyfriends life. "I dare you" those were the words that Ava refused to say ever again. She cries for weeks and doesn't leave her home. Her best friends Cali, Jessa and Zoe come by her house to check on her but she only pushes them away.

Rising Action: In the rising action Ava thinks that she sees Jackson in the mirror. Everybody starts to think shes crazy and she needs help even her parents. Then Jackson starts sending messages to her by writing letters or a quiet whisper that only Ava can hear. She decides not to tell anyone about it so they dont think shes going mental again but her mom agrees with her. Her mom said that she can still smell his presence. Jackson only comes around when Ava's parents aren't near and Ava knows when hes coming because the air gets colder and tight. Some nights Jackson turns on the CD player and starts playing romantic songs and Ava and him dance all night until Jackson disappears again.

Climax: Jackson doesn't leave Ava alone. He doesn't let her leave him and Ava is scared to leave him because she doesn't want to lose him again. Every time Ava leaves the house or talks to another boy Jackson throws a fit. Jackson will go into her room and make a mess out of it, the underwear will be all over the floor and hangers everywhere. Ava soon realizes that she can't live like this anymore and flips out on Jackson begging him to let her free. Jackson said he wishes he can leave but he has an unsolved problem and let her be free there's only one way he can. Jackson has to take her guilt away from her and then he can leave her. Ava agrees to this and when shes wakes up she doesn't feel his cold presence. Jackson has left her forever.

Falling Action: Ava has no guilt about Jackson's death anymore and she's ready to live her life again. She goes out to a party and meets a boy named Lyric. Lyric becomes her best friend who helps her through everything and then they start to have feelings for each other. They soon start to date and Ava knows Jackson would be happy for her.

Resolution: Ava is no longer haunted by her dead boyfriend Jackson, and she no longer has guilt about Jackson's death. Ava is now also comfortable dating and she feels free.
