Stating our viewpoints from behind a computer screen removes any inhibitions one would have in a face-to-face conversation. This allows many boundaries to be crossed, as people can use harmful language against others they have animosity toward (for various reasons). Misinformation can also be spread with the intent of trying to slander another's name or mischaracterize a group of people. One's physical appearance can also be attacked on social media. The majority of students nowadays are younger and heavily dependent on technology for exchanging information, so they are most likely to be victims and/or perpetuators of this disrespectful content (though it is an issue that is by no means exclusive to younger generations).
