         <description><![CDATA[<div>Elias Howe was born July 9, 1819 in Spencer Massachusetts. He was always interested in machinery as a child. When he was young he worked in a cotton machinery factory. For multiple years he spent all his time in the development of a practical sewing machine. Which led him to become Thomas Scott private secretary and personal telegrapher. He was a American Industrialist who led the expansion of the American steel industry.
