We have missed all the conversations and connections that are made in the studios.
Art may seem to be an individual experience but communication around work happens not only visually but verbally!  Students connect with each other about their work, and their conversations are rich with artistic language no matter what grade level!  
The art studio is place where students need to feel safe in their environment.  
As Henri Matisse said “Art takes Courage”.   We provide a place where a students can take chances, make mistakes(or happy accidents), and bring their best self forward!

Art Room 321 has been buzzing with happy creative K-2 Artists since the start of our School year! It’s been a wonderful feeling to have the Chandler Art space in full swing again. I am so proud of my students for respecting our safe routines. We welcome these curious Artists as they warm up their varied skills through Line, Shape & Color. 
Kindergarten Artists have observed, practiced & understood the different characteristics of line with beautiful Fancy Line Names traced with Color. 
Pipe cleaner manipulation and Dot Dabbers made for fun exploration!
Grade 1 Artists have been working with Geometric Shapes, Compositional Space, Tracing & Filling-In. Organic Shapes are their next surprise!
Grade 2 Artists are excited to have Personal Sketchbooks and have been working through the steps to their best use. Fall Leaves are the subject where Shape, Line, Movement & Warm/Cool Colors will unfold!

The Alden Third Graders have stepped back in time to discover how prehistoric artists created cave art. 

The Alden Art Studio was recently  transformed into a prehistoric cave!! Working by “campfire light” our third grade students engineered and assembled their own art making tools using natural materials such as sticks , feathers and other plant materials. Students then experimented with the new tools to see what kind of marks and images they could create!!
