Room Booking

The new room booking system is backwards.
Instead of giving you a list of available rooms in the library, it makes you choose every room in the whole university system. Only for it to say “room not available for your group”. Mid May this system worked much better. Being Library focused off the library website.

The new Win 11 Update has disabled the option to flip the screen to portrait mode which was really helpful and convenient to read e-books and journals.

Since the monitor facilitates the option to tilt, why disabling such tools through software?. Please bring back the feature.

The pods on the second floor are comfy and good to work in but it's really not helpful when the plugs don't work and then have to move when my laptop needs charging. Plus I can't bring an extention and use that to charge as its a tripping hazzard.

Would it be possible to have a stapler and a hole punch put on the 3rd floor?
When I email print things I don't have the option to staple and it's quite interrupting walking all the way to the ground floor and back just to have something staples or hole punched.

Harvard Referencing Guide Update

Just finishing uni now, noticed the guide has no mention to datasets or software really, it’s becoming more popular with open data and GIS to reference those types of sources so the next edition would greatly improve with that, there is already a university in America with comprehensive guide for GIS Data if you were looking for inspiration. Nonetheless, when would the next edition come out, as the last was in 2015.

Cleaning staff

The cleaning staff do a fab job of cleaning. However, they often just walk into study rooms without knocking and interrupt my meetings/study sessions (the rooms were booked via the uni booking system). I find this really rude. Also, they walk in and address everyone in the room as girls, when there are non-binary people studying in there. I know this is quite a difficult issue, but if you could have a word with them, it would be really great. Thanks so much xx

Top floor freezing

The past few weeks the windows have been wide open making the top floor freezing and i cant work in there. I understand that it is getting warmer outside, but its not so hot that the windows need to be open all day. Please just open the windows for short periods of time.

Also, i usually sit on the top floor everyday because i need the silence to get work done but quite often theres people talking loudly on the phone, chatting with their friends or eating loudly which is very off putting.

Pigoen pooping on third floor’s carpet just now. Could anyone please come clean it before it is spread out. Thank you.

The doors are very loud closing from the group floor stairs and the first floor, when they are constantly being used it can be quite disturbing, also there is no longer a bin in the first floor quiet study room.

The coat hook in the 3rd floor mens toilet cubicle is broken.

There is also a strong smell of urine coming from the urinals that is always there.

Also, the taps are fitted incorrectly.

Is there any chance of getting a drinks vending machine put in on the third floor? It’s not always practical to go all the way up and down whenever I forget my water bottle.

Also, is there a way of finding out what journals are on the third floor? It doesn’t seem to work the same way as the other floors which can make it hard to know where things are or if they are even there in the first place.

Hello, I asked about pads the other day and the tone in response was insensitive and off putting, could staff be a bit kinder when students have to ask for uncomfortable things please. Staff are usually lovely, not sure what happened that day but was not nice to experience.

3rd Floor Phone Calls & Talking

The library is always a lot busier at the start of the academic year, would it be at all possible for more posters to be put up or something similar on the 3rd floor reminding students that it is a dedicated silent floor as recently more and more people are taking phone calls and talking which is frustrating to those around them especially as the 3rd flood is the only silent floor. I was wondering whether there could be individual toilet stalls considered, perhaps on third floor or in general, similar to those in the medical sciences building, solely for comfort and privacy.

Also on the third floor, could there be lights installed on top the larger tables. As it comes to later in the day it generally gets dark and becomes quite unmotivating when trying to study as we can start to get tired due to the darkened atmosphere.

Hi, I came in the other day and had to leave as I was freezing. It’s also cold again today. I am on the 3rd floor. I’m not sure if it’s because the library has been closed for Christmas and the heating was off, but I can see people in coats. I was wondering if the heating could be turned up slightly? It is freezing on the third floor which makes it uncomfortable to work. People are studying in coats and scarves. I know it’s been Christmas and the heating has been turned off but it’s now at the start of exam period and people are wanting to study in the library in silence but simply can’t due to it being so cold!

I do understand cost and time of year however I find it so uncomfortable to work i find my hands are noticeably freezing whilst typing on the third floor and I struggle to work on the floors where noise is prevalent which I understand completely is a personal problem . Can we add money to our printing account by ourselves

Hey so like we’re all adults and most of us have been able to add money onto our printing accounts since college. I was wondering if that is something we could do? It’s kind of annoying especially when your doing your dissertation/masters etc and you can’t add money onto your own account past 5pm as you need the librarians. Some of us work till past 5 or weekends or just cant be there when the staff that know what they are doing are there so being able to add it ourselves would be a massive help

Fix the charging ports. The free phone charger charges for about 30 seconds before it stops and needs to be replugged. It is a wonderful thing, I just wish it worked to its full potential.

I suggest that students should be allowed to request for a laptop for a day at least or to rent it from school during the term time. This would help in ensuring students do not have to come to library to study or when its needed in classrooms but you're panicking to return before you miss allocated deadline. What I am saying in essence is that it would be great for student to have the laptop at hand for a longer period of time. Thanks.

I officially leave Lincoln tomorrow. I had to come back to the library one last time to say goodbye. For the duration of my BA, the library was my favourite building. I truly love it here and will miss it very much. Thank you to the amazing staff who keep it going!

It's a great place to study in, and I'm loving the facg that even when I'm wanting to talk we stull can (except for the 3rd floor) because usually libraries forbid any noise in general😭

Although when I was studying in the usual place (2nd floor), I've noticed that the female toilet room's toilet paper holder is almost half off the wall, and the bar to flush the toilet is broken as you have to pull back the opposite way first to place it in the correct way to flush the toilet...

I'm loving the place, and I hope it gets fixed soon!

Sign of the main door to floor 1 stating “silent study only” when this used to be a talking floor, just wondering if all the floors have change noise policy to be silent floors or have they swapped location?? printers on first floor are usually broken or out of order. usually only one works, if any. On all of the floors lots of monitors dont work properly or will be completely missing their keyboards or computer towers
