【永續】是一又簡單又複雜的字眼，簡單在於每個人可以融入每日生活或工作實踐的行動中；而複雜在於要整合不同面向行動，讓環境、文化與社會經濟各面向的行動可以相互平衡發展。2021年歐洲旅遊委員會文件中特別提及，永續不是專業者或學者專屬，而是每一個人可以實踐、應用的管理行動。

一、實踐友善環境行動，垃圾減量、回收、再生，減少環境負擔；
二、保護文化與自然遺產，包括重建歷史古蹟或拯救瀕臨種動物等；
三、向當地社區提供社會與經濟利益，例如響應少數民族的薪資平權活動等。

透過這三項指標，每一個旅人正視自己對旅遊地的影響，並付諸行動，讓永續旅行不僅對生態環境，也對當地文化以及經濟帶來正面影響。
