His dad had left Hungary to settle in Nürnberg in the year 1455. This is also known as the city of Nuremberg, Germany. His exceptional skill was first recognized when he was actually 13 years old, and at the time created a remarkable self portrait of himself, done in the year 1484.  A year after he created an art piece which was called Madonna with Musical Angels, which at the time was already art in a unique style. In Italy, he was actually visiting Venice to study the enhanced culture, and at this time he was able to create lots of woodcuts in a german style. He was also able to visit countless important areas in Northern Italy where he learned different forms of art.

His artworks were a part of a significant point in history.  Dürer was the founder of printmaking and ultimately  made about 300 different prints throughout his whole career. This was one of the big reasons Dürer was so important during the Renaissance, and why he is known as one of the greatest artists of the Renaissance.

This journey lasted until the winter of 1507, and he actually spent most of his time in Venice. He had sketched a lot of art that portrayed soft colored images of men and women that were extremely detailed. He actually created a painting called Knight, Death, and the Devil. This painting showed how Durer compared different things, and the  amount of perspective and effort Renaissance artists would put into their paintings. Albrecht ultimately went to Italy so he could learn new styles of art.
