Claudius - The King of Denmark, Hamlet's uncle. Claudius is the antagonist in the novel. Hamlet believes him to of killed his father to ascend to the throne.

Gertrude - Hamlet's mother, married Claudius after Hamlet's father was murdered.

Horatio - Hamlet's close friend. Horatio supports Hamlet throughout the story and after Hamlet's death, tells Hamlet's story.
