He seems to genuinely care, there is nothing to contradict these characteristics until the final scene where the audience see the hoodie and hat worn by the attacker in the assault scene. The scene ends with James (myself) dressing himself in the hoodie and hat then looks straight into the camera and smirks before walking off set. This twist at the end really takes the piece to an even more sadistic story than viewer thought. With James’ reveal the audience's view of the character will completely turn. James is a psychopathy who enjoys manipulating his victims. He is a depraved individual, everything you see before the final scene is a lie, all of it is a mask he uses to play further mind games with his victim to become closer to her on very personal level, becoming the emotional support that his victim needs to deal with the trauma he caused her.  ]]> 2018-05-15 22:40:59 UTC https://padlet.com/connorforuni/zoyn6wh1ec0l/wish/261033597 Playing James connorforuni https://padlet.com/connorforuni/zoyn6wh1ec0l/wish/261034791 my plan for James was formed immediately after reading the script in full and was to play him as the nicest guy in the world, he's the reliable friend who's there when you need him and he knows when to party, in every sense he is a generic 'love interest' character. then in once scene at the end when it is revealed that James is actually the attacker all along. as an actor who gets deep into my role this scene had to be filmed last as i did not want to corrupt my interpretation of the the innocent James in any way. i wanted to have no physical memory of the reveal and visible characteristic difference in expression facially and bodily. shooting the actual assault scene was different because at no point do i actually characterise James in the way he has already been seen and my face was hidden during that scene so it was easy to disassociate with the character.]]> 2018-05-15 22:50:39 UTC https://padlet.com/connorforuni/zoyn6wh1ec0l/wish/261034791 Filming connorforuni https://padlet.com/connorforuni/zoyn6wh1ec0l/wish/262659453 when in discussion with the directer and camera crew in previous meetings there were plans to use several locations but due to unforeseen issues within the tv/ film department all filming was shot in the on site green room in the university building.
With dangerous affections being the last script to be shot the actors and the crew had relaxed a bit more which allowed for a more creative atmosphere for us to work in, allowing everyone to have a voice for how we shot each scene. there were a lot of changes from the script as props were limited and so was set and we had to work around it, one key change is the last scenes which originally had the attire of the hooded attacker subtly hidden in a scene then went to the bar to show James spiking drinks. instead of having the scene change from James house to the bar we had James don his hoodie one more time for the audience to see removing any trace of goodness in the character at all. ]]> 2018-05-22 12:33:14 UTC https://padlet.com/connorforuni/zoyn6wh1ec0l/wish/262659453 working with the teams connorforuni https://padlet.com/connorforuni/zoyn6wh1ec0l/wish/263039180 Although we never interacted with the writers we spent a lot of time in table reads throughout the]]> 2018-05-23 14:14:19 UTC https://padlet.com/connorforuni/zoyn6wh1ec0l/wish/263039180
