         <title>The Necklace - by Guy De Maupassant</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>LINK TO THE STORY:</p><p><a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.eastoftheweb.com/short-stories/UBooks/Neck.shtml">https://www.eastoftheweb.com/short-stories/UBooks/Neck.shtml</a></p><p><br></p><p>THE SUMMARY OF THE STORY:</p><p><br></p><p>Mathilde, a very beautiful lady, had a very poor life and a very poor husband.</p><p>Mr. Loisel gets an invitation to a ball, and gives it to Mathilde.</p><p>Mathilde is very sad because she doesn't have what to wear, so she borrows a diamond necklace from a rich friend.</p><p>At the ball, she loses the necklace, and spends a week looking for it. After giving up, she buys a new one, borrowing money from several people.</p><p>She spends 10 years working hard to pay the friends.</p><p>In the end, she meets Madame Forestier and tells her the whole story. Madame Forestier was deeply moved. She revealed that her original necklace was an imitation, and was very cheap.</p><p><br></p><p>THE AUTHOR:</p><p><br></p><p>- Guy de Maupassant, is a French writer, who was born on August 5, 1850, in Chiteau de Mitomesnil, Tourville-sur-Arques, France. His parents divorced when he was 11 years old, and his mother, a cultured woman with a great taste for the classics, was a figure of great influence on him. In 1880 he published his first story and at the end of the 19th century, Maupassant was one of the most  read writers in the world. She was an American Singer and the song was released in 1983. The song tells the story of a hard-working woman that works long hours to get paid, because she needs the money.</p><p>The inspiration for the song came at night, after the 1983 Grammy Awards, when Donna Summer attended an after-party at the West Hollywood restaurant. She encountered a restroom attendant named Onetta Johnson, who was exhausted from working long hours. She saw that lady and said to her manager, that was with her, 'she works hard for the money and suddenly the inspiration came into her mind. She mentions Onetta in the music saying "Onetta there in the corner stand".</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>COMPARISSON:</p><p><br></p><p>The short story vocabulary is formal, and</p><p>it is written in paragraphs, with characters</p><p>lines.</p><p>The song vocabulary is informal, and it is written in rhyming verses.</p><p>The song and the short story are both about hard working women who need money and work hard to make it for themselves</p><p><br></p><p>Work by: Isabela, Manuela and Leticia</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Summary:</strong></p><p><br></p><p>The Gold Cadillac is about a story of two girls who live in Ohio, and their family makes a trip to the south in their new cadillac. However, as they get deeper into the South, the more things begin to change. The girls realize that the laws and people aren't the same in the South as they are in Ohio.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Comparison with The Simpsons</strong>:</p><p>The Simpsons are a family who live in the United States. The series tells about the family's adventures. And in this episode, they meet a black family that suffers various types of prejudice and racism. And the family of the short story “The Gold Cadillac” suffers the same types of prejudice too.
