A luscious, thick lawn is the envy of many homeowners and can add value to your property. But achieving this can require time, patience, and the right tools. There are a variety of grass seed varieties that can thrive in the Northern Ohio climate, but only some will provide what you need for your specific landscaping goals.

When it comes to lawns, the cool-season grass types that are ideally suited to the climate of Northeast Ohio are Kentucky bluegrass, perennial ryegrass, tall and fine fescues, and bent grass. The best season to plant these grasses is in the fall. ForeverLawn Northern Ohio Grass that is planted during the dormant period tends to germinate and grow more quickly than grass that is planted in spring, but it's important to prepare the soil before you begin.

The type of turfgrass you choose depends on how you plan to use your landscape, including how often you'll be walking on it and whether children or pets will play on it. You'll also want to consider the climate where you live, as some grasses can tolerate drought better than others.

Some ornamental grasses are also well suited to Northeast Ohio lawns, including Karl Foerster, a red grass with silvery seed heads that wave in the breeze and are attractive throughout winter. It's a good choice for high-traffic areas and urban locations and is very heat and drought-tolerant. Other options include ribbon grass, which has broad-leafed foliage that blooms white and yellow in summer and grows from rhizomes. It does well in wet or dry conditions and prefers shade but is adaptable to the sun. Giant miscanthus flowers are another great option for lawns, with silvery white or buff plumes that can reach 12 feet.

Contact us:

ForeverLawn Northern Ohio

Address: 2714 Warner Rd, Hinckley, Ohio 44233

Phone: 440-866-4585

Email: contact@nohio.foreverlawn.com

Visit: https://www.facebook.com/ForeverLawnNorthernOhio/
