After fleshing out my original idea significantly, I wanted to explore the concept of advertising the same product from a different perspective. The three predominant perspectives I have come up with are:

1. Flat-Earther Perspective
(Already explored)

1. Satirical Perspective
The advertisement could be presented in a mocking way toward the flat earther and wider conspiracy theory community, pointing out the absurdity in it's claims. It could be presented in a Monty Python-esque style, and be downright comedic and silly.

2. Logical Perspective (Acting as a warning)
The advertisement could be presented as a child-oriented science kit, which could lead to them falling for the conspiracy. It could be used as a simplified way of demonstrating how conspiracy theories spread generationally, and could actually be an advertisement for a helpline or resources to assist people to get out of dangerous conspiracy beliefs. It could also highlight the dangers of believing unscientific claims without evidence and scientific support.

Attention -
I plan to capture attention in the first 5 seconds of my advertisement by having a strong, loud, bold, and energetic call to action, accompanied by captivating and fast-changing visuals. I learnt this after watching ads for different science kits, as displayed on this Padlet, and think it is a highly effective technique to draw the attention spans of both kids and adults.

Interest -
As the product is for children, I want many aspects to be similar to a children's ad, with language and visuals they can easily understand. Likewise, I want relevant and important information that additionally persuades the parents to take action, as they are ultimately the ones buying the kit. I also want to emphasise the educational value of the toy, as that is the core principle behind it while keeping the ad lively and fun.

Desire -
As children are easily drawn to colour, I have decided an easy way to convince them through feeling is by a combination of a bright colour palette and smooth production quality. I don't want any aspects of the ad to be jarring, but I still want it to retain a fast pace, many moving elements, and on-screen subtitles/text. These qualities will also be pleasing for parents to watch, with the narrator providing more detailed insight into the experiments shown on-screen.

Action -
I plan to take my audience on an emotional journey through the ad, as they are able to form a stronger connection to the themes and product this way. This will be mainly implemented through the voice-over, almost guilt-tripping parents into thinking they're not providing a solid foundation education for their children unless they buy the science kit. The story in the ad will also form a satisfying loop, in which it can be viewed multiple times repeatedly.

This short film will showcase 'The Flat Earth Science Kit: 10 Awesome Experiments to Prove the Horizon is a dead straight line', a product advertised toward flat-earthers to teach their children about their alternative viewpoint. Featuring a range of unique DIY science experiments, children will be able to prove themselves that the earth is flat.

The film will be fast-paced, instantly gripping children through the familiar style of the advertisement. The film will start with an impactful black screen with an impressive and bold shot of Earth dominating on-screen, being visually impactful to the viewer. This, accompanied by a captivating upbeat soundtrack, will likely captivate the viewer instantaneously. As the score builds, the image will start getting smaller as the viewer's perspective zooms out. There will be narration accompanying these visuals, in an easily understandable voice, with subtitles that match the visual cues and scene changes. The moving bright visuals will help draw kids into the ad, while the ad will have a very unique visual quality and feel. Delving into the contents of the kit, different aspects will be displayed onscreen with matching narration. Finally, the brightly-coloured box will pop distinctly, separating it from the muted background of a starry sky. Quick and kinetic transitions will be present throughout, building on the fast pace of the advert. The ad will speak to parents through the dialogue, while targeting children through the visuals, appropriately reaching both audiences that are being targeted.

In my case, blue and orange seemed the most bright and approachable, which is perfect for the product I am trying to make appealing for kids.

The triad technique uses three colours on opposing sides of the wheel to create a succinct design. In this case, I used blue, red, and yellow, all of which are bright and energetic colours that additionally appeal to a younger audience.

An equal balance of warm and cool shades is necessary for colour balance. To comply with this rule, I brought in a blue and pink colour to diversify the colour palette. Although there are more warm shades than cold ones, I plan to make blue a more widespread colour in my branding for the product.

Having access to unique 'secret' knowledge allows them to retain more control over others, and is a common trait amongst conspiracy theorists. Additionally, having overconfidence is another key personality trait. These different traits could be targeted by my video ad and website, making my product feel special, secret and out of the mainstream.

Nguyen, H. It cited lots of survey results from the general American population, which may be good or bad. Although having significantly more responders than in a small sample survey, some responses may be deliberately malicious and skew data incorrectly. I think with the right pairing of fonts this combo will work very well together, and both will ideally be equally detailed, coloured, and dominant in various regards.
