The Red Sea is about 2200 km long but only around 330km wide. The maximum depth of the Red Sea is
3000m but the average depth is about 500m. 40% of the Red Sea is less than 100m deep.
It is approximately 35% saltier than most other seas due to the high rate of evaporation and lack of rain.
The temperature of the water is around 28°C in summer and 22°C in winter which is perfect for coral growth.
There are around 2000km of coral reefs. Some of them are up to seven thousand years old.
Thousands of invertebrates and over 1200 types of fish including 44 types of shark live in the sea such as
clownfish and angel fish. The world’s fastest fish lives in the Red Sea. It is called the sailfish and it can swim up
to 109 km per hour. More than 10% of the fish living in the Red Sea are not found anywhere else in the world.
Pollution caused by humans is harming the Red Sea. Shipping traffic causes pollution, sewage discharged into
the sea and industry causes problems as well as other waste materials like litter.
Waste plastic often ends up in the sea where it breaks down into tiny pieces that can be eaten by even the
smallest animals. A scientific survey found one Plastic in every 6 fish in the Red Sea.
80% of the plastic waste found in oceans comes from land, so we must find ways to stop the waste from reaching the sea.

Dmitri Mendeleev was the youngest of at least 14 children in his family. His father was a teacher at the local gymnasium, and his mother came from a family that introduced glass and paper making to Siberia. From a very young age, Dimitri
showed a high interest in physics and mathematics. Also, he was taught many things about glass and glass blowing from the family factory.
When Mendeleev was 13, he lost his father. This sad event affected the family, but Mendeleve's mother kept supporting the family. She also noticed his gifted abilities in science and wanted to help him get a good education. So, she took him to St. Petersburg, where he enrolled in the Main Pedagogical Institute. Few months later, he lost his mom and sister.
Mendeleev had a great interest in the elements. His most significant accomplishments were his discovery of periodic law and the making of the periodic table. Scientists continue to adjust the periodic table as new elements are found. Mendeleev’s mission, to clarify chemistry, lives on. He dedicated his textbook to his mother who always supported and encouraged him while she was alive.

Professor Liderbrock was a respected scientist. He was a great mind in his town. He had a nephew. His name was Axel.
He helped Professor Liderbrock in his experiments. One day, the professor bought an old book to read. When he opened
it, something fell out. It was a secret message written on old paper! Liderbrock and Axel had to put together all the parts
of the puzzle to figure out what it said. The professor read the code to discover that it was a map to the center of the earth.
They decided to start their journey to Iceland. They took the train till they arrived there. Once they arrived, Hans, a
famous explorer, accompanied them in their journey. They walked till they reached a peak of huge volcano, which lead
to the center of earth. They got down with deep concern. After hours, they found a place to rest. The professor checked
the tools they have like thermometer, compass and pressure gauge. He also collected samples of rocks and minerals he
found there to study them. After a few days of walking, Axel lost his company. So, he walked till he reached a forest
with huge mushrooms. At the end of the forest, he found Hans and Liderbrock looking for him. All of them were amazed
when they saw a beach light up with something like the sun. They sailed on a boat they found on the beach. During their
sailing, they saw many extinct sea creatures of old ages.
When they reached an island, they started a fire, but unfortunately, huge numbers of Mammoths ran after them. They hid
in a cave, but stones fell to lock it. They decided to explode the entrance. Once they did it, a huge volcano erupted and
pushed them above. They woke up finding themselves in Italy.
