Using rubrics takes the subjectivity out of grading. Students are all assessed based on identical criteria, and are afforded the opportunity to identify their strengths and needs, based on the teacher's use of the rubric (highlighting, commenting, etc). For teachers, rubrics can make grading a more efficient process as well.
