         <title>Effective Communication</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Effective communication is one of the key characteristics of a visionary leader. It is crucially vital in obtaining the necessary buy in from a variety of stakeholders. An effective leader has to be able to interpret the wants and needs of the community, and broadcast a shared vision that garners the interest and energy of all the different elements in achieving those shared goals. A leader who communicates effectively is able to ease the anxiety of faculty, and parents as transformational change is under way.<br>While interpersonal communication  is a trait some are gifted in, the level of communication needed to broadcast initiatives, acquire the robust needs of a school district, and inspire innovation require some development beyond one's innate ability. One should be familiar with leveraging technology in order to maximize the penetration of one's message into the community. A leader must be cognizant, in meeting people where they are at, and be adept at helping to build a bridge as to where we are headed as a community </div>]]></description>

         <title>Foresight</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>An effective leader must have the foresight to anticipate what resources are required to achieve a districts vision. An effective leader should be able to forecast, and plan effectively for cyclical challenges, by developing sustainable funding and ongoing plans for improvement. Leaders who fail to plan, or lack foresight can expect to find themselves regularly putting out fires (and as consequence redirecting energy and resources from other valuable areas) as opposed to taking proactive, measured responses to mitigate chances for failure.&nbsp;<br>Foresight grows with knowledge and is one of those traits, while not innate, can be improved upon with exposure and experience. One of the most effective ways to shorten this learning curve, by which leaders can improve upon this characteristic, is by broadening their network. By seeking out the input of others in similar experiences and sharing their own, in professional learning communities, visionary leaders can increase their capacity for recognizing what the future holds ,and build the tools to use at their own disposal.</div>]]></description>
