Been working on Rise From The Ashes comprised entirely of samples from Shymer with my vocal line composed over the top of it. This will be one of my tracks.

Work undertaken was extensive wrangling of samples. I was inspired by the example track that came with the Shymer sound back i got in december - I have taken the individual sounds it is comprised of and extended it to a full song, adding my own lyrics to the melody sung by the sample vocalist. This example track is below.

Inspired by the title of the sample pack i wrote these lyrics and decided i couldn't really improve on the melody given in the sample vocal. Although the kits are not neccesarily intended to be used all together in the sections they are sold in, i was taken with the entire example track given and decided the best thing i could do would be to extend it into a full track. So far for the demo version i have not raised the pitch to suit the higher areas of my voice, deciding instead to stay in the lower part; this is because a) it is what i am less familiar with so is helpful to do, and b) i feel that it suits the ambience of the track better than raising the pitch of all the samples and the vocal line.

I compare the latter in feel, to me, with 'Towards The End' by Within Temptation - a track by one of the key genre defining/leading bands in symphonic metal which has an almost 'introductory' feel, as if one is being eased into the main body of the album/show by this fantasy-feeling, slower, more subdued performance. Amaranth is symphonic metal basically by virtue of being by a symphonic metal band (Nightwish, one of the other genre defining/leading ones), although despite the guitar styles etc it is very poppy in drive and vocal tone.

Where and when does your genre date back to?

I straddle power metal and symphonic metal, both of which emerged from heavy metal, the former with the influence of symphonic rock, gothic rock and metal; and the latter with the influence of speed metal (which i have not heard of before).

https://musicmap.info

https://www.concerthotels.com/100-years-of-rock/
