The activities should allow learners to practice and apply their new learning in preparation for assessment.  If the activities do not align, students may not have the core knowledge and competencies to effectively complete the activities.

Assessments must directly reflect the learning objectives, and an aligned assessment will reflect the instructional materials and learning experiences.
