side: The side characters are my teachers who make sure I come to class on time. As well as the other students who have to follow their schedules during the day as well.

Hidden:  The hidden message is no matter what someone is doing they will always have some sort of schedule.

Connection: This connects to the giver because the children who are age 12 have to follow a schedule when doing their training for a new job. The whole community has the same schedule when it comes to time with their family’s and the adults have to follow a schedule when they work.

The side characters are the other students who go to school and the teachers. All of them must wear a mask or be at home online for school.
Hidden:
The hidden message or theme is, to protect people around the world many must take large precautions.

Connection to Giver: This connects to the giver because all the students at Jonas and Lilly’s school must follow strict rules to keep everyone happy and healthy. Lilly has to wear ribbons in her hair. (It is mandatory for her community)

side: The use characters are the people in our school, the kids in his class, me who is doing online schools as well, and the teachers. We are all doing online school because it is not safe for us to be in school.

Hidden: The hidden leaning behind this is that by staying at home the world will become a safer place and people will stay heathy.

Connection: This connects to the giver because to keep everyone of the characters the community reverted to sameness. When everyone is at home on zoom we are all practicing sameness because we are all at home on zoom.

side: The side characters are my teacher who wrote this letter as well as the other students who received an award. They have showed appreciation to their students and the students have showed appreciation towards their teachers by thanking them for the award.

Hidden: Many people can receive awards for there achievements, people can be highly praised for these.

Connection: This connects to the Giver because in the book Jonas talks about how everyone needs to be treated the same. No one is singled out for and achievement they have accomplished. However in our world many people are singled out to be praised or celebrated whether it’s at a birthday or during school when receiving academics award.

side: The side characters are the other people waiting to enter their breakout rooms. They don’t know who they will be with either and they don’t know if they would like the people in their groups as well.

Hidden: The hidden message is when put into groups one may not always agree with the people in the group.

Connection: this relates to the giver because in the book Jonas and all of the other people in the community I was put into groups by their age or their job. Jonas and all the other children are put into groups by their age based on the fact that the community wants them to learn something at a certain age. By the time they are 12 they are put into groups based on their job title.
