Often times new ideas and religions were implemented when people traveled over the Silk Road, they would end up settling in a new place and then they would tell others about their opinions and beliefs, then the people told would also potentially have the same thoughts so then end up thinking the same way as them.

In the early 1900s Sir Aurel Stein questioned how people from Central Asia crossed over to Northwestern China so he set out to answer that question and found out it was because of the silk road. Many religions, cultures, discoveries of ancient courses that we talk about today, trade enhancements, ideas and movements happened because of the Silk road or along it such as the spread of Greek culture, traditions, and Buddhism.

Many medicinal products from the ship did not last long. Fisherman discovered it in the 1980s because fish usually make their homes in shipwrecks, it was 85 feet deep below sea level. It was in the north west of the sea. it was made of wood it carried lots of goods one of them being lamps.

It was found 85 feet below sea level between Bangka Island and Jakarata in the Java Sea. It must have sank before 1278 due to knowing that it happened before the renaming of the city. This ship carried over 100,000 ceramics. 12,000 were discovered and more than 6,000 of those 12,000 are at The Field Museum. Also within this shipwreck it carried the most amount of iron cargo (200 tons) to ever be on a vessel during that period. A lot was lost within this shipwreck such as medical products, food, artifacts, people, ideas and etc. Still today whatever caused The Java Sea Shipwreck remains a mystery.

Historical accounts say that ships were 447 feet long, but most historians think they could have been exaggerating the size, Archaeologists believe the ship really was about 190 to 200 feet at most. Which would still make one of these boats almost 100 feet longer than the Java Sea wreck, as well as Columbus's ship.

The peranakan Chinese people in the 19th century had these unique hand sewn belts that the Bride would have make for the groom as well as the In-laws, this would show the Brides purity and devotion to the elders. In the 1920s when girls went to school their attitudes towards the tradition started to change, and by the 1960s the Brides would still have to give the elders belts, but no longer required them to make them by hand. Kendis is a handleless cup that has a spout which made it hygienic for drinking from, it was used by most of asia, it was also used for feeding babies, medicine and religious rituals. By the 10th century China made a majority of the Kendis and would sell them to other lands. Money Jars started when the philippines started to trade in the 10th century with china, and would add a lock to the top of the jar and store money in it, before this these jars were ,most likely used to store spices like ginger. In the 15th century Chinese porcelain plates were really valuable in the Philippines, so valuable that you could get a wife if you traded enough Porcelain plates, this was called the bride price. you would need at least 20 plates and 60 beads.
In 1371 the Chinese established a trade ban, making trade with China nearly impossible, and at the time the demand for porcelain was getting bigger and bigger, so to fill the hole China had made, countries like Vietnam and Thailand startec to produce there plates. Thailand would make green plates, and Vietnam would make white and blue plates, which were similar to the Chinese ones. and the green plates made in Vietnam actually became just as valuable as traditional Chinese plates. Jars with dragon decorations have been valuable to the Philippines for generations and represent the long history of trade with China, at first the jars were used to just store trade goods like spices, or water, or even wedding gifts, but these jars would later be repurposed to house the dead

Many goods were delivered in jars, in 1127 some invaders forced the Song Court to move south, cut off from the north that farmed, the court did not know what to dfo, at first they planned to tax the north for money, but then decided just trading with other countries would be better. Traders and merchants would travel along these routes and exchange certain goods and valuables reigning from their own indigenous land, ranging from silk, to metals, and to paper, although physical goods weren't the only things traded. Different religions and ideas would make their way from one place to the other, which was a method of finding more people to convert. However, people themselves wouldn't make the whole journey across. Instead, they would travel to a certain destination to exchange goods before heading back, while the valuables found themselves being transported to all kinds of possible locations.

Emperor Yongle commanded that 100 ships should be put overseas. The treasure ships were created to be intimidating and larger than other ships, these vessels were 190 feet long and 160 feet wide. Zheng He was an admiral to the voyages of treasure ships that were set sail. When Zheng He was young he was caught in a crossfire when Yuan and Ming switched power. When he befriended Zhu Di in a rough time he gained his trust, and had a place of power when Zhu Di became an emperor. Zheng He oversaw trade and other foreign trading posts, he kept pirates at bay.

The Silk Road was a web of routes connecting all over East Asia and the Mediterranean. Goods were transported, but so were ideas, religions and diseases. There were stops throughout said road so those trading could rest, which made certain cities rich and useful. Thus, the Silk Road was a significant part of the expansion of culture.

China and Asia have a community of practice, this means to have traded objects that become part of the other civilization. Peranakan beaded belts were a way to decipher an identity. People who lived in the crossroads of global change were able to have a beaded belt as a way to show combined identity. It showed European practices, as well as Chinese and Malay heritage. Every belt was hand beaded and stitched for individual identity. Kendis are handless and used in Asia with the benefit of having a more hygienic way of sharing water. Hindus, Muslims and Buddhist may use these in religious rituals at times. Money jars, dishes, and dragon jars were also shared between civilizations that used trade systems to show how different communities practiced and used ideas from other areas.

Oversea trades were cheaper for merchants to send than through land. Having rarities and lugdarie items from foriegn areas was a large display of great power. With trade growing this allowed for others to travel and civilizations to collide and share ideas. In AD 1127 northern invaders forced the song to move their trade south, this cut out a large portion of their trade. There was a dispute of whether they should go back to relying on farming, or to push forward and continue trade. Relying on farming came with largely taxing people and harmed the song’s people. It was decided that Chinese merchant ships would continue the trade, therefore trade became the greater benefactor than farming.

Tea was a large use in medical practice, making it a very important item to trade and use. Tea was a main part in Chinese, from there it greatly branched out and it is used nowadays in different regions. It is believed that the plant of tea originated in an area from northeast India through southeast China. The discovery of tea first started with chewing them, later figuring out they had medical properties, the leaves were harvested. Three pearls teapot was popular among scholars to share with others. The teapot had clay to better flavor the tea, and a jade handle that allows you to pick it up without burning yourself. Tea bowls were used to whisk tea. Whisking tea was done by adding hot water in a bowl with powdered tea and whisking with a bamboo whisk until white foam appeared. Different teas originate from various areas and are prepared in multiple ways, this is to show how tea connects different civilizations nicely.

During the 12th and 13th centuries ships delivered spices, other food products, largely volumized items, handmade artifacts, molded clays, medicines, and tons of other products. During the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220) chinese sent out people to sea out rare products like ivory and kingfisher feathers. A century later overseas goods became very popular and by the Tang Dynasty (AD 618-906) they became high demand in religions and other cultures like Bhuddism especially certain goods like spices that are used in medicine and foods. Tons of goods were traded within land and oversea but it’s had it’s difficulties and battles but those 2 trade systems had huge impacts on how past decisions were made and how ancient times were runned and especially how we decided to trade in modern times.
