We learned from our project that we need to build our lego set, download a program and code it, in order to move our lego wedo set. Our idea for our math lesson with the lego wedo set is to have the kids take control of the wedo object and put two numbers on either side of the object. Then move the lego set towards the bigger number like it's eating it. This supports productive struggle because the kids could ask questions about something they don't understand. They could possibly not understand how the technology works. Then they can write down the questions they have and work together to figure out a solution to their problem. Then give them time to understand their thinking. It also supports worthwhile tasks because it's a math project that's interesting, help kids understand the value of numbers which would go along with key concepts and if they have struggles or questions that would go along with misconceptions. They're able to visualize what's happening, they can predict which direction the lego set would move, we can change the numbers to switch up the problems, and many other things that would qualify this project to be a worthwhile task. All of this will help build technology pedagogy and content knowledge because they're learning the material of value of numbers as well as using the greater than or less than sign appropriately. It also allows the students to have fun and play with technology that they might not normally play with outside of a classroom setting. The students are learning a new piece of technology while also learning common core standards.

We feel that this technology will improve instruction by letting the students participate. It is a nice way to include project-based learning in the curriculum. This will allow the students to work as a group while navigating through the lesson. They will be able to work with trial and error which is a great way to initiate self correcting. The lesson will include the greater than, less than, or equal to. The students will be able to ask questions as well as get any additional instruction while also being able to build their technology capabilities. We are hoping the lego set providing a tactile and visual aid will really benefit the students in comprehension AND retention. We still need to iron out our lesson plan to make sure it is presented in the most cohesive way. We have decided that our lesson will coincide with common core standard CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.1.0A.C.5.

After we built our WeDo lego set we discovered that the program we needed to download on our computer in order to make the lego set function, is out of date therefore we can not use it. So instead, we'll be using our lego set without the movements or controls and relate it to our math lesson. We will still incorporate the lego set into our math lesson but it will not be programmed. In order to relate the common core standard we will do a math lesson of adding and subtracting with playing cards and then our lego set will be built into an alligator and once our "students" add and subtract with the cards, the alligator will eat the bigger number. We are now working on getting our hand outs finished, start working on our powerpoint presentation, and making sure we have everything required of us from the outline.
