Khan Academy's mission is to "provide a free, world-class education to anyone, anywhere" (Khan Academy, 2018).  This site provides "practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom" (Khan Academy, 2018).  Khan Academy delivers instruction in a wide range of content areas as well as a wide range of learning levels through short instructional videos.  To keep students engaged, Khan Academy offers "practice exercises, instant feedback and the use of game mechanics" (Khan Academy, 2018).  One concern with Khan Academy is that it is simply a "high-tech version of lecturing and drilling" (Thompson, C., 2011).  Research shows that "students who complete 60% of their grade-level math on Khan Academy experience 1.8 times their expected growth on the NWEA MAP Test" (Khan Academy, 2018).

Flipgrid mission is to "Empower learners of all ages to define their voices, share their voices, and respect the diverse voices of others" (Flipgrid, 2018).
Flipgrid is a fun way for students to use videos to share ideas and learn together. "It's the leading video discussion platform used by tens of millions of PreK to PhD educators, students, and families in 150 countries" (Flipgrid, 2018). The teacher is 100% in control and can moderate the videos, set up privacy rules and can give custom feedback to students, along with many more things.  There is 100% engagement with students, "They can flip the camera and pause while recording with unlimited retakes. Students can add titles and linked files to videos to verbalize their project-based learning" (Flipgrid, 2018).

The goal of USA Test Prep is "to allow students in the class to work with self-directed activities while other students can receive individual attention from the teacher" (USA Test Prep, 2018).   USA Test Prep is a very user-friendly site that requires a paid subscription.  With a paid subscription, users receive state specific material that comes with student performance tracking.  Along with student performance tracking, users may access other resources such as a video vault, exciting games, projector questions, interactive puzzles, flashcards, quiz maker, item of the day, bell-ringer questions, and class scoreboard.  "According to a year-long independent study by an educational research firm, students who use USATestprep gain up to a full year's growth in academic performance" (USA Test Prep, 2018).

The mission at Nearpod is "to strive to epower educators to create learning experiences that engage and inspire millions of students around the world" (Nearpod, 2018). Nearpod is an app that can transform students devices into learning tools in which they can interact, go on virtual field trips, take quizzes and participate in open ended questions that teachers create for them. Lessons can be customized to fit the students' needs and allow the students to be immersed in their learning experiences. "Lessons can be launched instantly and teachers can receive comprehensive student assessments" (Nearpod, 2018). "The app is 'web based' and is accessible on a 'log in' basis, which means that you can access your Nearpod account through any device that connects to the Internet" (Nearpod Team, 2015). The lessons on the app are customized by the teacher and can be used by any age range or with any content the teacher is using.

Developed by a New Jersey school teacher and her husband, this free website has become a viral site for students to play educational games.   The activities on this page are continuously changed based on feedback received from visitors and other educators.  Students from grades Pre-K to 5 can benefit from the activities found here.  The games are easy to use and classroom friendly, with a focus on the sight words, parts of speech, storybooks, addition, subtraction, keyboarding, graphing, rounding, place value, money, art, holidays and much more.

This free site allows teachers to create learning games in any subject or content area within minutes.  The format and the number of questions are entirely up to the teacher.  Educators can share their creations, or they can create a search from millions of other games created by teachers from all over the world.  Kahoot! fosters social learning by allowing students to play in teams or individually with students within their class or with others in other parts of the world.  It also unlocks learners’ potential and allows students to reinforce their learning through practice.

Discovery education is a "safe search" site that offers thousands of multimedia resources including pictures, videos, documentaries, videoed lessons, games, audio clips, lesson plans, activities, etc. The site has search filters where users can search by grade level, language, length, extension activities, etc. One feature on the site is the "board builder" where students can create their own virtual poster boards. Students can change the color, font, and style of their boards. They can add their own text and information, or easily upload pictures, videos, etc. right from the Discovery Ed database. This allows for safe and easy browsing, as well as simple steps to upload. The boards can be created and shared with classmates, or the teacher for grading purposes.

MyOn is an online library where students can choose books based on a variety of filters including grade level, lexile, subject, book length, etc. MyOn reader personalizes reading for students by recommending books based on their interests, reading level, and ratings of books they've read. MyOn reader tracks book usage and reading growth over time and can project a student's future reading score based on their current reading activities within the system. MyOn also offers reading quizzes that build comprehension skills. All the books on MyOn are also linked to Accelerated Reader, so they can read books to help meet their AR goals.
