iDiot feedback by K. Remešová

1)The video makes us think about brands. On a example it is shown that brand does not always mean more quality product. By buying the same product but branded you support the companies , that will only produce more and more of these overpriced useless products.

2) The adaptation is easy to understand and quite funny. I believe it does make you think a bit about what you buy.

McDonald's feedback by K. Remešová

1)One of the U.S. most successful fastfood series McDonald's feeds people with unhealthy addictive food. Even though it is a very common fact, the accessibility of the restaurants and low prices attract millions of people. Another problem is the amount of trash that is produced every day because of packing every single item into separate wrappers.

2) The image of an obese McDonald's clown feeding with liquid Mcfood from a water pipe could disgust some potential customers from buying a cheese with extra sauce and double fries. Good job.

Trump feedback by K. Remešová

1) A meme that talks about the Mueller investigation of the current U.S. president Donald Trump, known for his extravagant behaviour. The text says that if he never stops commiting new crimes, the investigation can not be concluded. It is written very simply so that everyone understands the point. It only detaches the proTrump and the antiTrump camps.

2) A meme is always meant to be funny, but only to a certain group of people. This one makes respond just the two camps.

Ketchup crisis feedback by K. Remešová

1) An advertisement on a ketchup from the 70's that shows a young woman holding a bottle of this tomato puree, that looks surprised and excited about how simple it is to open up the bottle. According to some group of people it is sexist and offensive, because it shows "that it is so easy that even a woman can open it". It encourages the gender stereotypes and harms the position of women in society.

2) I don't really know what to say, I'm a woman and it does not really offend me, because I don't believe in a 100% gender equality, men and women are simply different and noone should be ashamed of their differences. Imagine that the poster would show a child instead of a woman, nobody would complain about that.

Stop the cirkus feedback by Barča

The video is about a cruelty to animals in cirkuses. Specifically, they are mutilated and tortured.
This propaganda appeals people to say no to the violence and to stop support it.

I think, that the video is really effective, because they don’t just say facts, they talk directly to people. Girls used pictures of the torture, dramatic music and the red colour to the backround, which affect our emotions.:(

Ketchup crisis feedback by Barča

At the first slide of this propaganda we see a women surprised by simplicity of openining a ketchup bottle. Under her is writed: ,,You mean a woman can open it?“.It should make us think about the sexism and stereotypes in the world. They show us a picture disproving this myth, where a strong women is holding a man in the air. They used it like a proof to propagate human equality.

The video is simple and clear. I would ad music. But good job:)

iDiot feedback by Barča

The propaganda in this video is about overpriced products of Apple. Girls want to show that expensive doesn’t mean quality. They try to persuade people that we can buy the same thing inexpensively.

The interpretation of this propaganda is funny and effective, because of the good idea to use the voice of google translate. But I would not mention what Samsung did to Apple. Because attacking the opponent in a promotion isn’t correct. So when you want people to buy electronics from different mark, don’t mention wrongness of marks which can replace it.

Stop the circus feedback by Adam L.

Firstly, the video underlines the fact that all types of animal cruelty are bad. Then, it makes a point that circuses are not an innocent amusement, but they are seriously violating animal rights to be treated properly. It mentions that we can all stop it by simply not buying circus tickets.

The effectiveness of the response is strengthened by an emotional music track. It moves you by showing you pictures of actual mistreated animals in circuses. The statements are simple and thus easy to understand and effective at the same time. It relies more on emotional power than on more complex argumentation, for example not arguing why circuses are still in operation at all.

Ketchup crisis feedback by Adam L.

The main point of this video is to point out sexism in our society. It says that stereotypes against women (or stereotypes at all) are harmful and very often not justified, plus stereotypes may divide our society. The video then argues that people internalize this message and develop negative biases towards women ( in this case). Then it opposes this kind of people by saying that if you act otherwise, you believe in equality.

The response is well argued (or at least well argued for one minute video). Music may have taken it to the next level, however, what they did not accomplish in music, they did with a good selection of images. Overall, it encourages people to think critically and not to prejudge others based on stereotypes.

McDonald's feedback by Adam L.

This video clearly intends to show us the negative effects of our beloved fast food diet, concretely McDonald's. It shows the negative issues of McDonald's operation on two axes - consequences on peoples health and on the environment. It points out that McD food is extremely unhealthy and may have impact on our quality of health, because people tend to eat there more often beacuse it is "easier". Then, it mentions an issue that is commonly overlooked - the fact that McD is a huge waste producer, since it packs all of it food in different packaging and then it proves their idea using data from England street pollution. AT the end, there is a statement "Do not eat at McD", so the creators clearly denounce McD.

The vidoe uses very good music and quality images, however, it's a pity that we did not have much time to look at them. A big plus is that the video mentions not only ideas, but also facts (30 % of England's street pollution is from McD). The ideas are also well organised and they build on one on another. However, the video is very biased and it does not show the positive activities of McD, such as charity, and it does not say why McD - for example - uses so much packaging (maybe because people want it?)

iDiot feedback by Adam L.

This video makes the point that consumers are often buying overpriced goods even though they are not of higher quality, they simply want to show off. They say that people do not value the product's brand and not its features. At the end, it encourages us to think about our product choises.

The video is quite poorly made, even though it may by original to use google translator to voice your ideas, voice is a bit confusing due its lack of emotions. In the video are not presented any valid arguments, I feel that it only tries to discredit Apple and its consumers, regardless different various factors that may make people by the "i" products.

McDonald´s feedback by Adéla

This video response is to the satiric image of McDonald clown who eats every junk food of McDonald´s. We learn that McDonald´s food affected our health and cause dependence to fast foods, products of McDonald´s pollute our environment because every product is packaged and McDoland´s causes deforestation.

This response shows just negative sides of McDonald company. The dramatic music in the video catches more attention. The video is easy to understand. We all know that food from fast food is not healthy but we still eat it because it is cheap and good in a certain way. The fact of the ecology side of this fast food improves the response.

Using google translate to narrate your video is funny, which might not be the smartest choice when making a serious video, because it makes it funny and less emotional.
Another thing I'd like to point out is that this video doesn't show the other side of the coin- the quality of luxury products. It only highlights the negatives.
Of course, most of the times we only pay for the brand, not for the added luxury, however it would have been nice to mention "quality over quantity".

The main message is to not support this tyranny and to stop visiting such places, where the animals are tortured.

The response is great. The video looks professional and surely is effective. It inserts the viewer into the problem by addressing directly to him and it plays on one’s emotions by showing sad pictures and then put the blame on the viewer- by buying the ticker (s)he allows and supports it. On the other hand, by focusing on the video itself, we can see few mistakes. The pictures and slides are changing too fast, so the viewer cannot read or take a closer look on the photos without pausing the video. Also, although the sad music supports the idea and deepens the atmosphere, it becomes a little bit annoying for the never-ending repetition of same 4 notes.

The goal of this video is to raise public awareness of sexism connected problems that are rooted in our society. Women are often stereotypized and are sometimes treated with prejudice based just on gender difference.

The response does a good job at pinpointing some real problems derived from sexism such as prejudice and biased views. Although it is true that raising awareness of sexism and human solidarity has helped a huge number of women, what this video doesn't show is the other side of the coin. The problem itself is obvious and should be resolved, but what this video lacks is showing us the danger of misinterpretation of the problem and social engineering that, in some cases, if not deeply thought through, can cause bigger problems than it can resolve.

The main idea behind this video is how much our consumer view on products presented by fast food chains differs from reality. On one side there is the marketing that stimulates our perception and imagination in a way desired by the manufacturer of the product (in this case the product is food and manufacturer is McDonald's) and on the other side there is the reality. In the video we can see kind of anti-advertisement of McDonald's illustrated by a picture that is the exact opposite of what McDonald's uses as strategy to lure consumers into its lair. It is not tasty-looking fresh food accompanied by happy smiling clown. It is the opposite. Its sugar, fat and other products in its most disgusting form accompanied by big fat ill and disgusting clown. Then there is a mention about pollution created as a bi-product of McDonald's fast food business.

The video very clearly sends the exact opposite message of that of McDonald's marketing, which is great because unhealthy food can be bad for the society as a whole. It creates pollution and costs tax payers a lot of money because of illnesses and polution that come with it. Especially here in Czechia where everyone can go to hospital basically for free. On the other sides the video neglects positive aspects of McDonald's. There is obviously something positive about it because a lot of people eat there. It is fast and available everywhere. On top of that McDonald's invested a huge amout of money into food research to make their food smell and taste as good as possible. This topic is left for discussion, but one thing is sure. Every coin has two sides and we must be objective.

This video tries to demonstrate the absurdity in buying brand goods over cheaper non-brand goods of the same quality. Main argument of this video states that people owning brand goods just want to show off and nothing else. In this video there is a quite offensive joke attacking apple consumers. Its goal is to make people think about their economic behaviour and to make them more responsible.

Video is funny, but at the same time unnecessary offensive. Sadly, this video was reduced to biased criticism of apple ignoring the main idea that we've learned better that ever in last few decades. Human is not rational and we shouldn't be! We often base our decisions on our emotions that can after be influenced by our rationality. Emotions are much quicker in terms of considering what is best for us and help us keep the trade-off between fast decision-making in our everyday life and quality of our decisions at a good level. Thinking everything through very deeply would be so ineffective we would possibly all die. Of course this doesn't justify doing stupid decisions and buying overpriced products, but we mustn't forget that we can't completely control emotions and thats where advertisements strike the hardest. Our feelings and emotions are as much a part of the product as the product itself. Everything we do is to feel good. If the company invests in the marketing so that we will feel good thanks to owning their product, its also what comes with the product when we buy it. On top of that, Apple has a lot of other distinctions such as iOS and their own design that might be more user friendly to someone. Its not only feeling, its also the technical aspect.

Adam, I find it interesting that you mention the "feel good" aspect of purchasing a product and irrationality behind that... Food for thought:-)

It tries to provoke as much emotion as possible so that it can seed and grow emotional bias in public's opinion that can afterwards serve as a protection layer against constructive criticism to the candidate it favors.

Video is well made and was probably made with some cutting edge technology as we can see at 1:02 in the video.

Adam, there is no need to comment on your own work:-)

The video questions very convincingly the necessity of the operation of the circuses and makes the viewer do the same.

-I find it very effective, how the girls state some very specific numbers. Thanks to those we can picture the profundity of the problem. In addition the pictures, the colors and the music creates a very intense sentiment in the viewer. The video speaks directly to him through pronouns and powerful questions. Very well made.

It states why people support this fast food chain, and refutes this argument by mentioning the ways in which it negatively influences us and our enviroment.

-I find it great how the video seems urgent. The dramatic music plays well into creating a tense setting and presenting gravity of the issue. I think the girls could detail up the other side of the problem, in order to be even more objective. You react to the add "You mean a woman can open it" that advertises a brand of ketchup with a new cap that is easy to open. You point out the sexist tone of the add. You state that these types of messages encourage stereotypes and create a gender divide. You claim that people are easily influenced by these types of messages. Then you go on and introduce the movement for equal treatment of women and men. You end your video with a call to change, merging the male and female symbol into one.

Your video is visually engaging. It starts by showing a colorful add that is controversial which immediately catches the viewer's attention. The message is presented in a clear and easy-to-understand way. The images flash across the screen in just the right speed in order to allow the viewer to read each one. The video clearly explains what the problem is with the message and counters it with clear arguments that are supported with pictures. The video calls for equality using reason rather than emotion. It presents arguments supported by clear and simple visuals. I wonder, have you considered adding music? What effect could it have? What do you think? A job well done, girls!

Stop the circus

Alex and Katka

Your topic is animal cruelty in circuses. You start by presenting shocking statistics. You state that animals are mutilated, tortured and sedated. You illustrate these facts with pictures. Then you go on to ask why is all this happening. Then you turn to the viewer to take the blame. You use the second person to talk directly to the viewer, claiming that every ticket he/she buys supports animal cruelty. You encourage he viewer to help stop this cruelty today.

Alex and Katka, in your response you echo what the initial message claims. You do so in a straight-forward way, talking directly to the viewer. Using the second person makes your message direct and powerful. You have added slow and dramatic music that adds seriousness to your message. With the shocking statistics, powerful images and slow, anticipating music you target the viewer's emotions. You also talk directly to the viewer, claiming they are guilty of what is happening. I wonder in creating this video, have you thought about the line between a powerful, truthful message and propaganda? Is there such a line? Or is the truth in the eye (mouth) of the beholder:-)? What do you think? Well done!
