And most people care about the well-being of children. They also care if their school is lacking funding. Funding for special ed might help a school as a whole.

Topic: How mental health affects recovery after an ACL injury.

So what?: ACL injuries are becoming more prominent in the sports world. The recovery process is extremely long, sometimes over a year to get back to playing sports. Coaches, athletes, parents, and medical professionals all care about how successful athletes are in their recovery. A way to ensure a more successful recovery is to be aware of mental health and how it will affect the recovery. Although this is focusing on ACL recoveries, good mental health is imperative for all recoveries. Becoming more educated on the mental side of sports and injuries will allow people to become more of an asset in the support system of athletes.

Topic: Does the loss of a parent lead to greater depression or resilience later in life?

So What?: Many children across America are affected by the loss of a loved one. Primarily, the bigger issue is how we view mental health and how it affects children who lost a parent. While the children must grow up and continue to live their lives, they may be negatively affected by their past. With the right support and materials, we can give these children the same opportunities as their peers. Allowing them to succeed in life alongside their peers with both parents will create a more diverse and resilient society. People may not necessarily care about how parental death affects mental health, but they care about children and creating a more diverse society.

Topic: The importance of mental health representation in film.

So What? Viewers of film and television are debating whether or not mental health has a place on our screens. Film today is one of the strongest platforms for relaying the truth of human kind and what it means to be human. Being able to relate to a story is what makes storytelling so beautiful, and removing a focus on mental health for a characters identity doesn't allow for people who struggle with mental illness or mental health to relate. We want to see ourselves represented on screen, and mental health is a topic that should continue to be explored. An ongoing struggle with mental health is that so many people feel alone, and that only they are struggling, when in reality, so many people are struggling with the same thing. Through film, mental health representation can show people that they aren't alone. Relating to a story or character is such a small act that can make a huge difference.

Topic: How the mental health of college athletes is affected by the intensity of their practices/trainings.

So What?: The mental health of college athletes is neglected and overlooked by many coaches and other staff members. Many times they prioritize winning over the mental health of their athletes. Sports fans are the same way. They don't care about the athletes as long as the team is performing and winning. However, what coaches, staff, and fans fail to realize is that athletes will perform better when they have better mental health. If they put more time and care into their athlete's mental health than their team would have a high chance of winning. If an athlete is struggling, instead of increasing their trainings, practices, and pressure that's on them, realize that mental health is a factor when it comes to sports performances. If they want their player to do better, try focusing on the mental side of the game. Athletes with better mental health will play better and will lead to more victories, pleasing coaches, fans, and the athletes themselves, leaving everyone happy.

topic: Topic:Female Athletes perform better in their academics when they are in season.

So What?: As a college athlete entering the NCAA division three competitive level as hey sport athlete, I am up question is this too much for me? Can I compete in both sports and perform academically? I know in my heart I can do this because I have been doing it since I was five years old. I am a dual sport. my heart is in the coldcold ice slapping the puck into the goal and hitting the ball over the fence as my team rush to the homebase cheering for my home run. I have always performed better academically during the season of either sport, but is this true for other female athletes? This is why I stage that emails more better than their academics when they have the demand to face as an athlete.

And the research study conducted by Jason for his thesis of "The athletic, academic, and social experiences of female intercollegiate team

sport student-athletes" (2008) he quotes the following from Adler and Adler and Miller and Kerr: “For many student-athletes, the freshman year can be an eye-opening experience

that produces an adjustment, in terms of how they view their academic abilities (adler & Adler, 1987, 1991). It/also alerts them to the type of commitment it takes to be successful

academically in college (Miller & Kerr, 2002, 2003).” These statements give me confidence that I made the right decision.

Reference :

Frank, Jason Michael, "The athletic, academic, and social experiences of female intercollegiate team

sport student-athletes" (2008).

Topic: College athletes' mental health

So what?: People may not think that college athletes struggle with mental health issues, and why would they? They are perceived as "Jocks," or they just came to college to play sports, right? Wrong. Did you know that only 7% of high school athletes move on to become college athletes? and less than 3% of them go D1. More than 91% of college athletes graduate with a degree and have a successful career in what they want to do with their life. Playing a sport in college is a gift to us, and being able to continue playing a sport that, for some people, changed their life is something we will never take for granted. College athletes such as myself experience a more vicarious schedule than most students. the constant stress of maintaining elite athletic performance while balancing class and healthy social life may affect student-athlete mental health. Student-athletes may also struggle with body dysmorphia, heckling from spectators, low self-esteem, and sleep deprivation.

With many more men speaking out about the issues today about mental health within men. Many of these men have come out for many reasons, with losing a loved one to mental health-related issues or having dealt it with themselves.

Topic - What affects teenagers mental health the most in Philadelphia?

So what? - Where I grew up we always had lock down drills and shelter in place drills. I grew up in a town 45 minutes away from Philly. I then when to high school in a little town further because my chosen high school wasn't safe. We always had wellness classes for mental health. However, now that I'm older crime rates in Philly are going up and I knew some of the kids on news who committed these crimes. I believe that crimes are all started by bad mental health issues. starting now teachers are and should continue helping kids deal with their problems and know how to control their emotions. Crime rates have gone way up in the years. During the period of January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021, the City has experienced 562 homicides and 1,840 nonfatal shootings. Many things in life may affect kids in a bad way. Although, if they know how to control their feelings and keep their mind in a good place then it might prevent crimes or suicidal thoughts. Covid 19 was one of the main causes of bad mental health. To some kids school was their home away from home. So when they had to stay home with their parents 24/7, they might not have had the best experience. The pandemic caused kids to have anxiety, depression, even eating disorders because of the drastic change.

It influences almost every aspect of our daily lives. College is such a crucial part of life. Students are surrounded by many pressures causing anxiety and depression. Although social media allows us to stay connected, it sets unhealthy standards for students figuring out their lives. Social media is a beneficial but yet very dangerous tool to wield. In the right hands, it can be used in beneficial ways to influence and motivate people. Becoming educated on how to use social media in reason aids in how students can manage the negative effects that social media lays on them.

Athletes need to have time management because of the tight schedules with practice, class, games, and studying. Learning time management helps these athletes prioritize their schedules and improves career skills. Another way is Discipline and focus, Athletes must stay on top of their sport and their studies. By staying discipline in the classroom and on the court, this helps them develop good work ethics and the ability to focus on their goals. So learning the balance between the two not only serves a valuable lesson for college athletes, but improves their career and life skills for the future.
