She sang in both spanish and english. She was nominated for 86 awards and won 67.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Type of Mexican music that incorporated other styles of music.In the 1980 Tejano music was born and it became super popular in Southern Texas. This brought different music styles such as "polcas", "rancheras" and "Afro-Carribean". Tejano music uses the accordion, bass guitar, electric guitar, drums, trumpet, trombone, saxophone, keyboards, piano and vocals. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Selena music became known worldwide, her music became really popular in the U.S. All her songs had a meaning and some were based on events that happened in her life. She was also  the youngest person to ever receive a Grammy and very first to receive a Tejano Award. Since Selena was young, it got teenagers and the young generation to start listening spanish music and this taught them more about their culture. Some of Selena nicknames are "The Queen of Tejano Music" and "The Mexican Madonna"  </div>]]></description>
